Yash Chopra is back.That’s right.A man with quite a deeper knowledge of music, a man with ability to acknowledge quality of music in almost no time. I heard that he almost listen to 70 melodies composed by madan mohan (do you remember ’’Lag ja gale ’’ song. Its of MM) before choosing melodies for V-Z. And man what a melodies he has chosen!!!!! I will tell you about the tracks one by one but before that hats off to LATA MANGESHKAR. Oh man! she is almost ageless. I really wonder how can she handle high pitch tones and low pitch tones with such an ease!
Hats off to another man, guess who!thats right none other than ’’king of melody’’ UDIT NARAYAN. He is the only singer in the music industry who seems to sing straight from the HEART. I think you should grab the copies of V-Z even before reading this review. Have you grab it?yes.OK, now we listen to the songs one by one.
1}TERE LIYE:- ROOP KUMAR & LATA MANGESHKAR [Rating:-]
What a starting of the song! You just wonder after listening to mellow strings of grand piano.What after that, well entry of Roop Kumar. You might get disappointed after listening to him, but believe me he has done a great job! His deeper sound really suites to the song. Then comes ’’Queen of melody’’ LATA. Man what a voice!what a depth! 75 year old lady has handled the song with astonishing ease, a song that will swelter todays singers. I tell you there is no singer today who can sing this song to such a perfection. Mind you this is not an easy song to sing. Lyrics are excellent. Highly recommended track.
2}MAIN YANHA HOON:-UDIT NARAYAN [Rating:-]
Not instantly catching melody. But hey! when it comes to UDIT it is straight from the heart.I am sure when you will watch this song in theatres, you will love the song instantly(people watch song only once in theatres, so it is important that song should fit in the peoples mind instantly). Magnificently rendered melody. Lyrics suits to the mood.
3}AISA DES HAI MERA :-GURDAS, UDIT & LATA [Rating:-]
BALLE BALLE man GURUDAS does the starting of this song magnificently. He really fills the required punjabi touch to the song easily. Then comes UDIT. What a style of singing!simply great! The musical instruments used for this song nowhere disturbs the melody. The main swaras used for this patriotic song are’’Ga, Dha, Ni and komal RE(in high octave)’’. Wait till LATA comes into the song, listen carefully, can you catch her breathing between the words when she sings ’’aisahi des hai mera’’, noway man!she is absolutely fabulous. Lyrics again suits to the mood.Five stars given only because of LATA and UDIT.They are simply miracles.
4}YEH HUM AA GAYE HAI KANHA:-LATA & UDIT [Rating:-]
What can I say. Melody overcoming the musical instruments. Two great voices simply touch your hearts.Sitar used for this song mainly draws two swaras(Tivra MA & PA[Both in middle octave]).This is worth listening to ears. Magnificent.
5}DO PAL:-LATA & SONU:-[Rating:-]
HEART-RENDING melody.LATA starts off with alap, aa~~aa~~aa.Then comes the sweet voice of sonu.What a singer!Sonu draws the great sorrow voice required in the melody simply superbly.But hey what about lata, her alaps in between the song simply richen the melody.Mind you its LATA and not sonu who fills the soul in this absolute divine melody.
6}KYON HAWA:-Sonu & LATA:-[Rating:-]
Hey Yash Chopra has done some singing man!stop him........OK, He stops finally.
Again LATA starts off with alap absolutely rich to listen.I really wonder at this age how can she sing such a ’’melodious alaps’’.Sonu again simply superb.Excellent soft melody.Highly recommended.Hats off to LATAS ’’alaps’’.Without LATA musician would have used some musical instrument to fill the ’’alaps’’.I wonder could that instrument have satisfied musicians and us.
7}HUM TO BHAI AISE:-LATA:-[Rating:-]
You don’t know why LATA is ageless.Listen to this one.Mainly a dancing track.We have many of these kinda tracks.But listen when lata sings ’’hum dil ki shehzadi hai, marzil ki malika’’The words look like coming out of 17 year old girl.Then go to end of the track , listen ’’Arabic tune’’ sing by LATA.Can any one do that in our music industry? Its a tune absolutely impossible to sing.OH!LATA is even bigger than ’’MA SARASWATI’’.LATA shows her variations and greatness in this track, Highly Recommended.
8]AYA TERE DAR PAR:-HUSSAIN & HUSSAIN:[Rating:-]
Qawwali at its best.Though most of you wont like this one as it is outdated.But, Qawwali’s are not easy to sing.You know our great musicians never offered Qawwali to great KISHOR KUMAR.Simply because he couldn’t sing them at all.Wonder!!!!! Now, two Hussains are absolutely fabulous in this track.Highly Recommended for Qawwali fans.
9]Lodi:GURUDAS, UDIT & LATA :[Rating:-]
LATA gives first singn of her age in this track.GURU has done fine job.His perfect punjabi tone really fills the mood required.Overall good track though outdated.
10] TUM PASS AA RAHE HO:SINGH & LATA[Rating:-]
GAZAL track.I think J.Singh has sung it average.LATA handels it with ease.Good track but not as great as Jagjit’s some other melodies.LATA again shows she can sing anything whether its gazal, quwwali, punjabi, it doesn’t really matter her.The track is not included in the film.Haa, Haa, Haa...Cheers....

Magnificent silent melody.No need to mention anything.Just listen at any time.
Finally, it is upto our new generation musicians to draw some inspiration from this melodious album and provide us some rich melodies in future.Heartly congratulations to Late Madan Mohan for providing us ’’Timeless Melody’’.
