I had purchased my first fully automatic machine back in 94 and it was a videocon - assembled in India. Beautiful machine, never gave me any trouble except that after 10 years of use, some metallic parts were starting to rust. So I thought why not upgrade? Assuming a new videcon would be equally good, I exchanged and paid the difference in price for a brand new videocon FA 55 fully automatic washing machine.
The FA 55 is labeled as ’’Digital Sensi Logic’’ (more like sans logic). Once you start it, it automatically fill up with water and starts the washing process irrespective of whether or not you have put any clothes in it.
Eight times out of ten times it will endlessly fill, wash and rinse non-stop. i.e. it will fill then wash and rinse. Then again it will fill ..wash...rinse ... the process will never stop. (Sans logic) As far as the quality of the cleaning is concerned, it is as good as any other washing machine in its category.
Once the process starts, eight times out of ten times the only way to stop it is to switch off the power supply. So if you are looking for a cool senseless washing machine go for a videocon.
And yes, I did call the service several times. They came and usually fiddled with the balancing of the machine (by removing or inserting the trolly). Couple of them were forthright enough to tell me that the current series of videocon automatic washing machines had faulty software in them and that there was nothing that could be done about it. Jeez! The rotten things that Indian companies do...
