A Class Apart

Have you ever experienced happiness, sorrow, repentance, desire to succeed, anger, killer instinct and fear at a time! Atleast, when reading a magazine? Then go ahead and pick up a copy of Vijaya Viharam. In a field filled with soft porn weeklies, hypocritical movie magazines, newspapers sold out to political parties, all nonsense news magazines this one stands apart.

It takes pride in its strong confidence in the Gandhian principles. Whatever problems it faces, it stands by the truth. Promoted by the Janaharsha group, which calls itself as an ethical corporate movement, the magazine has already created ripples in the national and the international fronts.

I am proud to be a reader of this magazine right from the first issue. I am a voracious reader of magazines. I used to scourge the stands for new magazines. In one such search, I came across this one, with megastar?s photo on the cover of the inaugural issue. Right from the design and size, the magazine is completely new. I went through the issue and was deeply impressed by their work. I was addicted to it from then. What?s so great in the magazine to become addicted? Their love for Democracy. Their idea of celebrating success however small it is.

I understood the greatness of the country I was born in. I rediscovered myself. What else can a book give you? One such article is about Narayana Guru. I never knew before, that such a bloodless revolution, which changed the lives of lakhs of people, was born in Kerala in our country.

When personality development has become every thing that deals with How to be more successful than your peers, How to talk to earn money, How to eat to earn money, How to earn more in less time, How to marry a groom living abroad, the personality development articles in this magazine seemed to me like a breeze of change. One such phrase that I would always like to remember is ?When you have lost everything in the world, one thing that is left with you is ? your future?.

The magazine has now completed 50 issues and do you know what it has won for its pursuit of finding truth. Criminal Cases, attacks, arrests and above all love and affection of thousands of readers. Some of the magnum opus?s of the magazine are- its serial questioning the godhood of Satya Sai Baba, target 2000 scam involving thousands of crores of rupees, land grab scams in Jublee Hills, Vizag, article on high profile defaultors to various nationalized banks totaling to 1, 20000 crores of rupees, serial about NTR?s last days, one hundred questions to the Chairman of Sanghi group (my all time favourite), killings of dalits in our country and many more. You can look forward to read about issues the mainstream media giants don?t even dare to write about.

Do you know that this is the only magazine in the mainstream Telugu media that writes movie reviews? You can safely depend on the reviews, the next time you want to enjoy that movie show for which you have been saving time for long.

Some of the other attractions are humor spread, gift box, gelupu keratalu (assorted write-ups of people who were successful in their pursuits), paadavoyi bharatiyuda (remembering the freedom fighters and their great deeds). May be this is the only magazine which has a dedicated fan club, Jai Bharat which stands by its side whenever the magazine is in adversities.

If you are feeling that it?s been a long time having read a magazine to your hearts content, go ahead and grab an issue. Its assured that you won?t feel disappointed. You can also reach the latest issue of the magazine at https://vijayavihaaram.com.

I dedicate this review to Chaitanya Pingali, sub editor of Vijaya Vihaaram who was recently kidnapped and by god?s grace was out of danger.
