Chiyan Vikram is now probably one of the very highly rated Actors in Southern cinema. He is one actor probably along side with surya in the younger breed of actors who goes to any extent to give his characterization maximum justice and perfection. He does a lot of home work for all the movies he work. He adapts the policy of one movie at a time, and a considerable amount of gap between his movies. He does so because when he acts in a movie, he dedicates himself totally to the character and gets wholly involved with it.
Born in paramakudi, same as the legendary Kamal hassan comes from, his filmdom career wasnt as smooth one as any one would imagine. He started his career in tamil movies and tasted no success at all. He had a series of disastrous flops to start his career. Then he shifted to malayalam movies, where he was given rather small but meaning full roles. This helped him a lot to find the actor within him. But still he had always dreamt of making it big in the industry and he never gave up. he kept his struggle for nearly a decade. All these years of struggle he made sure that some how or the other he was associated with the Cinema industry. He spent several years as dubbing artist rendering his voice to several leading young heroes of the tamil Industry. He always believed in himself and was very sure that his hard work will definitely pay off one day.
Alas, came his dream project Sethu, where bala offered him the character of his life time. Vikram gave his 200% effort for the movie and worked really hard. He went to the extent of losing enormous amount of weight, which was need for his character in the later part of the movie. He knew it was die hard situation and gave his best. The movie was once completed. Though they had a few problems releasing the movie, it got released after a great struggle. The movie was a great hit. It made the critics and the papers top pour in lavish praises for vikram and the director. His performance was accepted whole heartedly. It was noted to be one of the best performances ever made.
After this there was no looking back for Vikram. He had offers coming in all directions, but being the perfectionist he chose his future roles carefully. HE made sure all characters had no resemblance to each other. He had a series of hits with dhill, dhool and saamy. Simultaneously he acted in characters which brought the best out of him. Kasi and Pithamagan were such roles. The chittan role he played in Pithamagan got him his first National award. He brought in a balance between doing commercial cinema and meaning full cinema. His efforts to play different roles and to strike a balance between commercial cinema and off beat roles brought in constant comparisons with Kamal Hassan. HE is hailed by the public and the critics as the apt successor for Kamal hassan. All these comments and praises never made vikram go on a cloud nine but he humbly accepted those praises.
He is one actor who never gets into these trivial ego clashes with his counterparts and co actors. He is never boggled down into an image circle. He never indulge in uttering needless punch dialogues which seems to the flavour of the season. Now his recently released Anniyan has brought him again to the lime light. He has indeed given another great performance. His acting prowess are reaching great peaks.
Hope this great Actor continues his wondrous performances, and let him continue to entertain the entire lovers of Indian cinema. Lets all hope that he scales greater altitude in his career and make the tamil and the Indian Industry proud.
