With the kind of game Sehwag plays, Don Bradman would perhaps have said, ? This Guy shouldn?t last for even four deliveries?. But somehow Sehwag manages and how!
Some of Sehwags rules: -
These are purely his own and they cannot be copied because it simply impossible for others to do so.
1) Great ball-Try and play or get out.
2) Good ball-Try and hit.
3) Bad ball- Where do you want to go my dear?
Having watched Sehwag play in a stadium, I was quite surprised at the amount of power this man has. He?s got an aura of his own and he does remind us of the Young Sachin, the fearless.
Sehwag manufactures shots from nowhere. He is gifted in timing & he can just about convert any ball and play it in the offside. This guy is special between backward point and thirdman, not as a fielder but as a butcher who flays it over the two for fours and sixes. He thinks one ball at a time and sees just the ball and not the bowler. This is a special gift. Even if he plays a real bad shot, he backs himself for the next delivery. This is his greatest strength and also his weakness. He can get carried away when the momentum is with him.
Making him open in Tests was one of the best things that Sourav did. From a person who was not willing to do the job, he can now become the best Indian opener ever & one of the best in the world. He scores his runs fast and that gives the bowlers time to get the opposition out. He is Australian in attitude & Indian in technique.
Sledge him, give him glares, nothing works. Remember McGrath having a few words with him and his reply was No English?. He is anyway going to do the same thing again. Bowlers nowadays expect what comes from him. They know they have got a chance but they also know if he stays around for more than 10 overs he is going to take the match away. India is gifted to have got such a player. As an attacking batsman he terrorizes the bowlers. Taking initiative & swinging the pendulum your way is what Crickets all about and Sehwag does that with great efficiency.
