I am amazed to see how peoples are ignorant about such a good movie, which I have got reasons to count among the best family movies upto this date.
Box office record shows that this movie has not got good opening but those who wacthed it liked very much. If tomorrow this good movie does nto perform good on BO, only the ignorant peoples and poor advertisement will be responsible!
Viruddh is a story of present day middle class families who are getting alone day by day. Due to family structure, when the parents do retire the child comes to take care of them. He is the person who manages the bread butter for the family without any hitch. The lonliness and strucutre prevails to such an extent that the families silently do compromise with pain in sending their single child far away from home. But love and respect never fades.
Viruddh very beautifully captures the new age love and affection relationships between old and younger, how the family values can be carried well with modernity, and how alone you are if your family is not their to support.
What happens to the parents who when loose their single cvhild who earned and lived for them? and at least if not do exactly like that what kind of steps and thoughts we need to build after that. V8iruddh though ends happily but puts a good question towards it’s viewer, the middle class families, about their loosing identity, while they are the most important fraction of indian social contour.
Performance wise in continuity Amitabh bachchan has again shadowed every one around. Viruddh must be counted among his best performances byt his time. He as a jovial old man makes you laugh and have a hidden smile through out the first half. He shows you with comprehensive style how one feels, talk, wants to do when old and old men are like kids with white hairs but warm mellowed heart longing and enjoying for love. Same time in second half he becomes tragedy king, this kid in heart first not readfy ot accept what was happening around with him and the system, then realisation and sinking and thereafter brith of a fighter and question from the very same society which much better believes in lonliness and ostrich like conditions.
If anyone has even an inch of suspicion over supremacy of Amitabh Bachchan in the world of acting, Viruddh is a must watch. And yes it’s not Baghbaan or any usual family drama.
Sharmila Tagore’s absence from films clearly shows, was a badluck to good movies. Watch her in Viruddh. Her chemistry with Amitabh is excellent and she deserves awards for this. The shot where AB is being taken to jail and she offers medicines to the officer and take care of Amitabh inside the lockup. her dialogue delivery style is something which today’s actresses need to study and learn...so with her acting.
remaing star cast too have excelled brilliantly specially John Abraham first time in cool guy form, and Anusha dandekar as daughter in law. Sanju was great in small role and added more emotions. It really happens.
Amitabh Dayal as minister’s son is brilliant and looks have good future
Sanjay Manjrekar’s directions is excellent and first rate. Viruddh may be counted among his best works.
Cameraman is very good and knows very well how a iddle class ambience does look.
Few flaws which are very small to be noticed are advertisements done in the movie. But you get so much engrossed emotionally witht he movie that you don’t notice all this.
Viruddh is a movie which looks lesser a movie and connect more and more with our own lives. I am sure that after watching this movie you will connect easily with it and the family. More you will never forget Amitabh Bachchan as Vidyadhar Patwardhan.
If Viruddh fails on box office , I will think only one thing...it’s reaffirms my thought that middle class is really loosing it’s identity and failure of viruddh identify with this. And if this movie hits, then there is still lots of spine intact with middle class.
Virdudh is clearly among the best family movies and deserves to be seen with family.
