A Crowning Glory

I stockpile VO5 hot oil treatment and use it weekly for the amazing shine it gives my hair. It literally transforms my lifeless, dull hair into a shiny crowning glory if you are judging simply by how it looks. However, when it comes to the texture, I find that my hair is still dry the next day after using VO5 hot oil treatment. Fortunately, VO5 makes another product called Total Hair Recovery which is to be used once a month and does wonders for my hair and restores the moisture it so desperately needs. Both products are easy to use and a breakdown of each product follows:

VO5 Hot Oil Treatment: A vitamin E oil treatment intended to restore moisture to dry, brittle, damaged hair. Costs about $3.99 for 2 treatments and is intended to be used once weekly while in the shower. To use the produce, simply heat the tube of oil in a sink of hot water for one minute (I actually just hold it under the shower head for one minute while I am in the shower). Apply to hair and leave in for one minute and then rinse thoroughly. Shampoo and then style hair as usual. It’s that easy! One suggestion for those of you with fine hair like mine: make sure you rinse, and rinse again. Then rinse some more! Otherwise you will find that you have a difficult time styling your hair because the oil can weigh down your hair.

VO5 Total Hair Recovery: This is a deep conditioning cream intended to be used once monthly. Shampoo first, squeeze water from hair, apply cream to hair and apply the supplied plastic cap and leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse out and then style as usual. Your hair will feel soooo soft! This product comes in a 1 oz. jar and costs around $7. If you have short hair like mine, you can get two treatments out of it, otherwise it is just one treatment. I do not recommend using both the hot oil treatment and the total hair recovery on the same day because the oil will likely coat your hair, thus keeping the total hair recovery from really getting in there and doing its job. Sometimes I skip the VO5 hot oil treatment altogether for that week if softness if more important than shine.
