I was blessed with good vision till I turned 18. I initially had a vision power of -1.5 in both my eyes. Fair enough. I had just entered college & it was one of those years when I was conscious of my looks & I decided to go in for contact lenses. The doctor recommended that I wear semi-soft lenses. She painted a rosy picture of the good things about wearing them, probably sensing that an 18 year old will be more interested in good looks. Initially I wore them at home for an hour or so & gradually increased the time. My eyes always appeared small when I wore them.
Every time I went out-side & a speck of dust entered my eyes, they would turn red & start watering profusely. The doctor then told me to wear sun-glasses. I suffered the ordeal of wearing those lenses for over 2 years when one day I found that I had broken one of them. Fearing that my mother would refuse to buy another one, I used only one lens for a long time. Resultingly, my power shot up & I stopped wearing those dreadful lenses. Now my power stands at -4.5. I started using soft lenses which I found to be much much comfortable than the semi-soft ones.
