Never Give Up On Love

Truly speaking, I had given up on Mahesh Bhatt and films of his camp that routinely keep releasing in theatres, but this year I have seen three of the Bhatt-camp films which have warmed the hearts of several cinegoers like mine; these are, namely Kalyug (seen on television), Gangster and, now, Woh Lamhe. I must say, I had least expectations from Mohit Suri, the director. But it was the presence of Kangana and Shiney, the lead players, that had drawn me to the theatre.

The film is dedicated to all those souls who have loved and lost. Woh Lamhe does make us believe in love, it almost yells from the roof-tops Never Give Up On Love. The story isn’t anything new. Mahesh Bhatt has told this tale in many avatars again and again. But he still seems to nourish the fleeting moments of togetherness, that formed the crux of the doomed affair with a fragile beauty hopelessly lost in her psyched up state, and the passion and the selfless leanings are all laid bare. The viewer can’t help being touched by the tragic yearning. The performances are essentially flawless. The songs capture the moods aptly. And so does the film become a completely endearing dramatisation of an intense though brief love affair between an actress and her director.
