Regressive thoughts displayed and encouraged in TV

I started watching the serial on Star Plus ’’Shagun’’ over a year ago. I sympathised with the character ’’Aradhana’’ in the serial and hence continued to watch it. I missed several episodes when I was out working as I watched it only in the afternoons.

I still watch it but I have come to hate it. The character of ’Aradhana’ , in spite of the writer’s(?) attempts, is spineless to the extent of being brainless.  The serial is very much behind times as everyone knows loads of career women who have looked after their families successfully and excelled in their jobs/careers; in fact it is a very common feature even in India for both man and woman to be gainfully employed outside the house.  The ’culture’ of our country is still ’in tact’ whatever that may mean.

It seems to me that the life of the main character ’Aradhana’ has been full of mistakes of her own making in the name of ’preserving the family culture’.  Does the writer take viewers to be fools when the girls of the house even spend a night in a man’s house saying that ’he is a very good friend, nothing else’ and at the same time going out to work is against their family’s ’culture’.  I am just waiting for the end of this regressing serial.  It is also so slow moving!  If every one in real life took so much time in answering and deciding day to day matters the world will come to a standstill.
