Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Review with Pros & Cons

Quick specs:

  1. Snapdragon 650 SOC 64-bit ( Hexa Core Processor)

  2. 3 GB RAM

  3. 32 GB Internal Storage

  4. 5.5’ 1080p IPS LCD Screen

  5. Adreno 510 GPU

  6. Dual SIM Hybrid MicroSD card slot

  7. 16 megapixels Rear, 5 megapixels Front Camera

  8. 4, 050 mAh Battery

  9. Fingerprint Scanner

What I Liked about Redmi Note 3:

  1. BATTERY LIFE: In my daily usage I am getting around 6.5 to 8 hrs of screen on time which is insane.

It lasts for more than a full typical working day and even with heavy usage it lasts for about a full working day.

  1. BUILD QUALITY: It has a metal unibody made of aluminium and I have to say, in terms of build quality and inhand feel, Xiaomi has done a spectacular job.

  2. SENSORS: It has all the required sensors including the IR blaster and even gyroscope sensor.

  3. CELLULAR CALL QUALITY: The signal reception and voice call quality is very good. The audio via the earpiece is adequately loud and crisp. I am using it with Jio VoLTE and calls are very good.

  4. PERFORMANCE: It sports the SD650 processor ( a litttle older now) , and I have to say, it performs very well. As of now I haven’t noticed any UI lag or performance issues ( and I’m using Nova Launcher) . The device also doesn’t overheat.

  5. GAMING: The gaming performance is also very good on this device. Even very heavy games like Modern Combat and Asphalt 8 ran without any issues. ( I noticed some frame drops here & there while playing NOVA.)

  6. CAMERA: The camera performance is also very good in outdoor and natural lighting. The colours are accurate and have a decent dynamic range.

What I didn’t Like:

  1. SPEAKER: It has a single speaker at the lower back. The sound and the loudness is fine but I miss bottom/front firing speaker on this device. If the phone is placed along the back, the sound gets a little bit reduced ( though it does not get blocked due to a small plastic bump below the speaker) .

  2. CHARGING: Due to the massive 4050mAh battery, the charging time is very slow ( even if it supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 1.0) .

  3. CAMERA: The camera performance in artificial and indoor lighting conditions is very poor. It struggles a lot in getting details in the pictures.

CONCLUSION: Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 offers a great value for money. Even after about 2 years of its launch, it has nearly very nice specifications. I am really very much satisfied with the device.
