The final review.......(revised - v1.3 - 23rd oct)

I own this bike(black one) for a month now.’ll try to give u all the details & a test drive on pune roads. cost-1.1L on road.I had always dreamt to ride a supersports bike, so went for it.At first ride pick up was not much different to me as I was using a CBZ since 2001.Last week odo crossed 500km, so I decided to rev it through all the rpms once.

Took it to NH-4(Mumbai to B’lore).First time it didn’t cross 118 & there I was dissapointed.Ran it for 60 kms more on hills as I was going for a trek. While returning again I reved it but still it didn’t cross 120. for final time I tried to rev it as my journey on free roads was about to end. it touched 120 when I had a look at the speedo, 121->122->123 & I felt the wind through my sides.

So I had to concentrate on the road. within no time when I had a glance at the speedo next it was reading 130 & even @ this speed it was accelerating sharply. The Indian roads are so badly designed that I counldn’t control it after that speed. That portion of the highway didn’t having banking angles, so it was difficult to take turns also at such speed, so I slowed it down.

My impression:- pickup - definitely increases with the speed.i have marked it increamenting the speed by 6 even in 3rd gear at 30-40 speed.

looks - nothing to discuss.

rear tyre(main concern) - I had never ridden on such a good quality tyre.while cornering my side stand scratched the road, should I say anything else?gives good balance even in rains.

speed - There will be very few indian roads who will give a good support to this bike.(atleast not in Pune, but definitely on NH5 in Bhubaneswar)

Mileage - I get a 43+, sometimes 45+.till date my CBZ gives 45+ as I am a good rider :), turn off at signals, put into neutral @ down slopes etc..

price - definitely value for money u spend.

brakes - just superb.but everything has its limitation, don’t brake hard on wet roads @ heavy rain.

handle clippers - tiny & cute, I must say.they give a very good control on road.feels sporty definitely.

saree guard - of no use, ha ha ha. remove it. I will do in my first servicing :).

But one thing I must say, it’s not a practical bike for a normal person, u can’t use it for ur household stuffs & for daily use which we normally aim to.(tranport, carrying household stuffs etc.), rest all is the best of this bike.

After riding it I never bothered of the bhp, valve, tyre size etc. etc.so no comments.u know better.

It gives u a racing instinct from inside.Definitely a R-series.

One last impression- u will always feel the bike is running slow according to the speedo reading  since no wind will be opposing you, the design is so good.initially when I saw this "humachine" feature on R1-5’s official site, I thought that they have just added it for sake of one more point & its not really a feature of the design, since the rider was sitting bent on the bike in the photo, but after riding 5-6 days I felt the desing.superb engineers. Why I am telling u this because I could guess nearly the exact speed of a vehicle when I sit on it without looking at the speedo & I was really socked initially to have a false impression that its speedo reads wrong.......

A cute small supersports bike with a heavy power.

Always keep it clean.

huhhhh, no more to say.thanks

9th Oct ’08 :-

speed increments by 8 - 15kph to 23kph :)

23rd Oct ’08 :-

This bike needs a long warm up before you can get the actual top speed.

Otherwise it doesn’t even cross 110 kph.

Run it for 20-25 kms & then it gives you the speed.
