Okay service, very bad in refunding

I was using a You Telecom connection for some 5-6 months without any problems. Then I moved out to another area of Bangalore. I was keen on transferring my connection, but they said that it was not available in the new area. So I disconnected it and asked for a refund. That is when my trouble started.

  • Oct: The modem was removed from my house, and the person noted down my new address where the refund is to be sent.

  • Nov 3rd week: I called up the helpline asking for the refund again. I was told that they would “look into it”.

  • Nov 4th week: I called up the helpline and was told that I would receive the refund in 45 days.

  • Jan 1st week: I called up the helpline and was told that they would “look into it”.

  • Jan 1st week: I called up the helpline again and was told that I would “surely receive the refund in two weeks”.

  • Jan 3rd week: Sent an email complaint to the Bangalore Nodal officer. Received a call from her, being assured that she would look into it.

  • Jan 4th week: Received a call from You Telecom, being told that I would receive the refund in forty-five days.

  • Mar 2nd week: Sent a follow-up e-mail to the Bangalore Nodal Officer. No reply.

  • Mar 3rd week: Sent a mail to both Nodal officer and Appellate officer of Bangalore. She replied asking for one week’s time.

  • May 2nd week: Sent a mail to both Nodal and Apellate officer.

  • May 3rd week: Got back a refund cheque of Rs.500, after 8 months.

All the while, I kept calling the helpline and the nodal/apellate officers on their mobiles. Each time they said they would "look into it".

The connection is pretty decent. The customer care service is not great, but just barely okay. I am not complaining about that.

But for any new customers, please be prepared to persistently follow up in getting the refund.(Best is to go for service providers who don’t charge any installation fee. You can disconnect whenever you want without any hassles.)
