YUVA: HATS OFF! YOU MADE MY DAY!!!!
Qs: What now?
Ans: Saw YUVA yesterday. At E Square. Super multiplex , at University Road, Pune. 100 bucks per seat. Fantastique!
Qs: Lol. How was the movie?
Ans: Great movie, great star cast, great acting. I was surprised to see that the entire movie was shot in the city of Calcutta! This was a very innovative film showing the culture and life style of the youth of India. Very liberal lifestyles and attitudes of the New Generation shown and picturised brilliantly. The new Howrah Bridge is a grand sight to see.
Qs: Okay. What’s the film about?
Ans: Oh, these is Ajay Devgan as the new youth political leader, He is great as usual. Abhishek Bachhan as a goonda was a revelation, and Vivek Oberio as another hi funda college grad student, rollicking around with the beautiful Kareena. This is first time I saw Abhishek, Kareena and Isha Deol on the big screen.
Qs: You sure took a long time, they have been around a few years.
Ans: Man Abhishek acted so fabulously he put Ajay Devgan in a shade! And yes, of the three women, Rani Muks was the best! What a hip shaker I dare say! Why even Isha came out alive on the screen. These six brought out the fragrance of youth to the screen so beautifully.
Qs: So, story worey kuch thaa kyaa?
Ans: Novel story man. Ajay motivates the youth in his college to start an NGO, work in the villages, take on big time politicians. They fight elections. And succeed. In the process of breaking in, they get beaten up badly by the goondas of seasoned politicians. Abhishek the goon works as a hired goonda for big time politician, Vivek is IIM C student waiting to go to USA. All three have fantastic girlfriends, so they get to sing super songs. Somehow, these three get wired up in Calcutta and then the movie gets on.
Ajay Devgan and Abhishek fight it out like crazy on the new Howrah Bridge. What action! What fight, fantastic picturisation! No one has ever fought like this on the new Howrah Bridge. I enjoyed every bit of that.
Qs: Okay………..does not sound so great to me….
Ans: You must see the city of Calcutta here. It’s a happening city man! I am definitely going there December this year.
Qs: Yawnnnnnnnn…….
Ans: No no…there is never a dull moment in this movie. The critics have criticized this movie for nothing. This is the Young Gen – X movie. Mani Ratanam has done a good job. Psssst....you know all girlfriends risk pregnancy with their boyfriends. This has been brought out subtely in the dialogues pal! Very cool yaar. Never happened in my time!
Qs. Shall we end this conversation?
Ans: Wait. I am not through yet. Why you so uppity today? Let me order another beer for you.
Qs: For another beer I will listen, but no more than 5 minutes.
Ans: Till the interval the movie moves like a breeze. Then Om Puri the veteran actor moves in as the wicked corrupt politician. And he acts so powerfully that he makes kheema of the new Gen X in acting. Man that man is good. And Abhishek…..that dude is the future of Indian Cinema.
Qs: Anything else? You have already ruined my evening.
Ans: Okay then go. Pay for the beers. Good night! You are just like them Mouth shut reviewers!
