Having visited almost all the restaurants in Bangalore, one of my hobbies include being a restaurant critic though not professionally.
I saw Zaica restaurant on my way home near Cosmos Mall and felt like place worth visiting because of the looks from outside. And was not disappointed at all once I entered into the restaurant with my wife.
We were greeted warmly and then led to a table, where we were served Papads as complimentary starters along with regular water, which I chose to go with. When I looked into the glass, the water had a white poly-ethene piece inside it which resembled ice. At first I thought as this is good, as these guys are taking care of summer by presenting iced water, but later realized the truth and then was wondering whether going ahead with regular water was a good move or not.
The menu had limited so called Punjabi dishes on it and we wanted to try something in fish. There was a delicacy called Punjabi Fish on starter items, but the waiter claimed that they didn’t had fish supply and so were not able to deliver anything which has fish. Though they had prawns available, which means that it was not fresh stock which they were cooking. We ordered it anyways as we were desperate to eat sea food. The list price for this was Rs 275 per plate, and to our surprise it contained just 6 small prawns on it, which was in no way value for Rs. 275.
For main course we ordered plain rice and a chicken gravy, Lahori Chicken which again was priced at Rs. 100 and Rs. 175 which was way too much for the value and taste it was serving.
Overall we came out heavily diappointed. To add to agony, they had added 5% as service tax which I have not seen anywhere else unless it was a five star hotel. On asking about it, they said it was company rule.
For just 4 dishes, we paid Rs. 899 which as per me was no where the worth of the food we ate.
