Watch the Beautiful and Yawn!!
???????. Except for that, the film fails to keep the audience far from yawning. The film lacks a proper story to set a balance between the equal ness and unequal ness of men and women. The story and situations include a strong woman fighting for equal importance of her feelings and egos in her marriage.
What makes the strong woman unimportant is the not-so-strong characterization of her husband. This is like a perfect woman (unrealistic) against an imperfect man (realistic). The director seems more inclined towards supporting the woman. The female character is the winner from the beginning of the film. If you wouldn?t mind this imbalance and if you wouldn?t mind the slow-paced screenplay, the film has enough light moments to keep you entertained.
Radha Gopalam: Once upon a time, there was Radha; a before that, Gopalam. The English words are not apt to express the beauty of this sentence. So I would like to quote it in Telugu: ?Anaganaga O Radha, antaka mundhu Gopalam?. After fives years of ?Tapasya? (penance) for Radha, Gopalam gets married to her. He takes a vow that he will take care of her without any problems. But Fate has a different way of handling things and makes Gopalam break his vow. Two professionals can become lovers (or husband-wife) but lovers (or husband-wife) can never be professionals to each other. In fact, a married couple must not try to go any way where they will have to be professional towards each other.
A film by Bapu: This film deals with the Bapu?s favorite topic: post-marital intricacies. The story deals with the general problem of the change in a husband?s attitude before and after marriage. The wife is strong enough to handle the fickleness of her husband. For the small problems involved, Bapu tries to give a simple solution: Tell a ?sorry? and let life move on smoothly. He makes the problem appear simple and realistic than showing it melo-dramatically like most other films. The romance-web between the couple is subtle and beautiful.
But the best part of the film is picture of Radha. Every frame focuses on showing Radha as an attractive Telugu woman. The costumes are chosen to be a bit traditional and a bit contemporary, but never liberal. And Sneha as Radha was the perfect ?Bapu-Bomma?. Her acting was simple and realistic (though her characterization isn?t).
Srikanth playing Gopalam was good in his histrionics and expressions. He looked as simple as the role demanded.
Mani Sharma was good in giving some nice tunes to this film. ?Satamaanam Bhavati?, ?Sorry?, ?Vaalujada? songs surely stand out. But the first song (I don?t remember the lines) in the film looks forced in and was highly unnecessary. Lyrics by Veturi and Co. are good.
Narayana Reddy was successful in designing a wonderful middle-class house with a nice garden and the interiors are beautifully decorated. Lots of Bapu paintings are displayed as wall-hangings. Cinematography by PRKRaju was adequate enough to keep the frames fresh.
Summary: The film has good romance, neatly decked heroine and good art-work; and except for that, the film fails to keep the audience far from yawning??????.
