I got rid of this and got myself a nexus 4. It's half the price, but is faster and better in every way. I have 3 Micro USB cables lying at home. None of these can charge this S3. When I researched on the issue, it turns out that you have to use genuine samsung full duplex micro usb cables only! I too have the exact same problem. There are 3 levels or filtration in this device and all 3 have been breached by ants.
