Call them whatever you may – intercaste/interfaith/interreligious/community or love/mixed marriages. Bollywood truly is following the path of Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Annie Besant, Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Mahatma Gandhi, Gopabandhu Dash, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Dayananda Saraswati, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, Medha Patkar, Justice Mahadev Govind Ranade and many others.

Bollywood is not merely entertainment. Bollywood actors and actresses are in the forefront of national integration by performing inter-caste marriages. If India has witnessed communal violence that was politically motivated, these actors/actresses have done what little they can personally to spread message of peace and love.

It takes conviction of belief in each other but then selfless love is their guide. Many Bollywood couples fell in love but could not get married (Dev Anand – Suraiya; Guru Dutt – Waheeda Rehman). Some are in a relationship (John Abraham – Bipasha Basu, Saif Ali Khan – Kareena Kapoor) while others are engaged to be married (Imran Khan – Avantika).

They have proved love transcends all boundaries. Love is above faith. They prefer human beings above faith. For God lives in His created human beings. Bollywood thus is an abode of peace and love. They are beyond petty issues. They are truly worth looking up to. No wonder they have massive fan following for their hearts and souls are pure.

There is a lesson in it for all of us. They have set an example that is truly worth following. Where there is a will (love) there is a way.
