Hi Friends, Our society boasts of providing equal opportunities and rights without any gender bias, but are we implementing it in the correct way or is it done with the true spirit and the right sense? The woman in India is always considered as the weaker sex irrespective of the modern times.

Accompanying a change in the family structure, there has been a change in the attitude to work and a revamping of the traditional male-female role. The view that women are a class inferior to men has to be dumped. Nowadays I see more and more women have started stepping out from their homes to take up gainful employment even in areas traditionally regarded as male domains. Their role in decision making is assuming much more significance as compared to earlier times. Incomplete social changes has, however also burdened women further; for, in most cases, the change has been superficial, without the basic thought transformation. For instance, though the woman’s economic independence is beginning to be acknowledged and she is being allowed to strive for it, she is denied the benefits such independence ought to give. The woman is even then expected to hand over her salary to her in-laws or her husband in most of urban families, still she sweats it out, sometimes single handedly and unstintingly for the welfare of her family and this sometimes worsens her predicament. Though nowadays enough women are provided with job opportunities, they still in reality are considered less competent than men. Thus, we perceive that change in attitude is much slower than superficial changes.

Many may doubt the true emotional and physical strength of women. It may be argued that after all she is physically weaker than men and is the first to break down under mental duress. I totally disagree with such contentions that do not take profound realities as, if that would be the case then tell me, would women be able to keep a child for nine months in her womb and undergo all those physical pains and mental stress involved in childbirth not once or twice but again and again?

My heart fills with pride and respect when I see the working women efficiently handling all the responsibilities by multi-tasking. It’s not an easy job to balance the family and professional life and hence I think today’s women have realized their own worth and have truly become the women of great substance and they can easily prove their mettle whenever required in different walks of life and let’s praise their efforts sincerely and always encourage them and let them prosper in their own ways. Let us empower our women and recognize their true worth. Let’s not confine them within the four walls of the homely surroundings, but let them spread their wings and fly freely according to their wish. Let us have more Kiran Bedis, P.T.Ushas, Aishwarya Rais, Kalpana Chawlas, Sunita Menons, Sania Mirzas, Saina Nehwals and many other eminent women personalities to make our society and country proud.

Let me end my post by mentioning a quote:-

Every individual are born equal and free

Equal in dignity and equal in rights

Give Men their rights and nothing more,

Give Women their rights and nothing less.

Peace, tranquility and equality to all.
