Instead of following the Big, Bigger, Biggest trends, GDS architects decided to start their own with an Invisible Tower near Incheon Airport, Seoul. This first anti-skyscraper named Tower Infinity, 1476 feet or 450m high, will have the third highest observation deck in the world. “We wanted to redefine what it meant to be a landmark”said GDS architect Charles Wee.

GDS included this section of the Tao Te Ching in its proposal:

We look at it, and do not see it; it is invisible.

We listen to it, and do not hear it; it is inaudible.

We touch it, and do not feel it; it is intangible.

These three elude our inquiries, and hence merge into one.

Not by its rising, is it bright, nor by its sinking, is it dark.

Infinite and eternal, it cannot be defined.

It returns to nothingness.

This is the form of the formless, being in non-being.

The tower will have a 4D theatre, restaurants, water park, and is primarily built for entertainment and recreational purposes. The highlight of the tower will be its view from the top. With the open floor plan, multiple levels can be viewed while ascending.Alex Knapp explains at Forbes: At different heights of the tower, the elevator will stop, and a screen will show a high resolution, real-time view of another world monument, such as a real-time view of New York City when the elevator reaches the height of the Statue of Liberty. The building’s facade will have weatherproof optical cameras, which will take capture images of surroundings in real-time, and LEDs that will display that view which would otherwise be blocked. To make the camouflaging more effective for the building to disappear, images will be modified using digital processing. With this technology, the Tower can also be used as a 450 meter tall Billboard screen and urban focal point for all arriving at Incheon. And for the structure to counter the effects of Wind Load, certain strategic locations of the tower( Mid, Upper and Very Top) will remain 40% open and a tuned mass damper at 411 meters will be used.
