As the wonderful chinese proverb beautifully puts it, "Happiness is acceptance"

It is one of the world's most sought after achievement and people go to any lengths to prove to themselves and their world that happiness is attained by achieving.

It is however an abstract term, and more importantly a relative term as well. That means, something which makes me happy, I might not be able to express the reason for it and it might not necessarily make you happy as well.

The weird factor here is that most people aim at something in their life and measure their happiness upon achieving it. However, life is so dynamic that it changes every second, and human life, being a never ending cycle of needs, the aim might get obsolete at a certain point in time. So Happiness can be attributed to the fact that its a running stream rather than a stagnant pool.

Everyone has a different vantage when it comes to understanding what makes them happy. Some might feel happy on meeting a friend after a very long time, some might feel the same by meeting the same person everyday. Accepting yourself, the way you like yourself is the ultimate gamechanger when it comes to perfecting the art of attaining happiness.

Very aptly said by Henry David Thoreau

"Happiness is like a butterfly.

The more you chase it, the more it eludes you.

But if you turn your attention to other things,

It comes and sits softly on your shoulder"

In a lot of ways people overlook a lot of possibilities that could make them smile while looking at the bigger picture. Simple things in life go a long way to making a person happy. The gentle kiss on the first date, the slight rub of the hair while sleeping in mom's lap, the first smile from the cute girl next door, all go a long way in creating that warm feeling.

Life is getting fast and busy. But the question is, whats making everyone so busy? what makes everyone ignore all the small things that make you smile and run behind that aim restricted for a specific time in the future. What I fail to understand, is that why tomorrow is provided with such great importance that we fail to enjoy the present to the fullest.

Finding pleasure is not happiness. And that's where we start associating materialistic attainments to being happy, which majorly is monetary. Pleasure can be bought, happiness cant...you cant buy a moment where u see your child take his first baby steps, you cant buy the concern your loved ones have for you..Anyway, as far as pleasure is concerned, you know what will make life easy for you and can be bought very easily.

There's a lot more to it than what meets the eye. Happiness is also a lot about individualistic acceptance of self being. Anyone who understands what he or she does well and what the shortcomings are, it is quite possible to identify what can be achieved for satisfaction and what could be left alone...

In a lot of situations, people are enticed by various factors like

peers, community, prejudice, mandates in believing that their idea of happiness is wrong and should be configured to adapt to situations not necessarily to their mindsets. The idea is to let go and be yourself, everything else will follow. Being a shadow doesn't really help and ends in losing individuality and thereafter self respect.

So all I got to say is be what you are, coz nobody else can. You are unique, be proud of it- flaunt it.

Cheers!!!
