Modernity means changing with the time and age as I think about this word. Modernity is the process of modification and innovation in the long prevailing systems and rituals. It means to remove the ill-traditions of the past. Modernity doesn’t means to copy blindly any culture. It comes within our culture. Nowadays this term is loosing its significance because we are blindly following and copying the other cultures of the Western nations of Europe and America. Although I am not a reformer but I am seeing this in my daily life that every person is adapting this word for his growth but he gets his destruction with it. The growth in crimes, corruption, and other evils of the society are only the results of blindly following the other nations. The life style in our Metros is only responsible because people of cities other than the Metros always follow the life-style of the Metros. In the days of our grandfathers we have the system of joint family. Now, the joint family in our nations is loosing its existence. It is only the result of this modernity. Even in our villages it is very difficult to find the joint family.

We forget our traditions and cultures in following this word. We never think about the consequences of this blind path. We are now interested in T.V. shows like Big Boss and others like them in which the contestants has to live like a family under the strict supervision of the said Boss but we do not like to respect and obey the orders of our fathers & elders. Everyone wants to live a luxurious life of the Metros. Other T.V. Serials likeKyonki____ , Kahani ____, etc. are promoting the post marital affairs in the way that the viewers finds nothing objectionable in the roles performed by the characters of those serials. They have full sympathy for them and toward their action. The female spectators of those serials consider it as Women Liberty whereas male finds regard it as an opportunity to change their female counterparts after a time interval. Women of today form the major part of spectators of these serials. I am not justifying them wrong with my words. There may be some circumstances which lead any woman to pursue a career for their home & family but this doesn’t imply for everyone. All the women of today want to make career for their self-dependency. Working women are symbol of modern world woman. They think that they would do anything like disrespecting their in-laws after marriage. A girl after completing of her studies wants to pursue a career just for the sake of testing their power and capabilities as a working woman. In this process of testing, they spoil the future of their male counterpart. Many women pursue this career and process of self-testing till the time of their marriage and most of them has to leave that after their marriage because then it depends upon the will of her next family members. Although nowadays most of the families wants a working woman bride for their home because they think that she will bring another hand of earning for the family but they forget its impact.

I think that self dependency brings feeling of pride for a self-dependent human being. The family thinks that their probable daughter-in-law will take care well of the family just like as an ordinary woman but they forget that she has to perform three kind of duties. One is for her next family, second is for her husband, and the last is for her profession. This becomes quite impossible to perform these three roles at a time for a human being in my opinion. If anyone does it, she could perform it only for some years not for always. She becomes bored and tired in playing these roles in her daily life then she needs someone including her husband in her next family to understand her problem and her husband and in-laws also have their problems so it creates confrontations in her family either with her husband or with her in-laws.

I am not against working women but if they put some pressure on their memory they will find it true. I apologize if I am wrong. When this kind of situation arises in a working women family they have to face the divorce which means the end of their happy married life. After passing some days as a divorcee, their surrounding forces them to make re-marriage. They also know that the journey of life is too long and one needs a companion for passing this journey.

It is the only impact of modernization on a sect of our society. There are some other aspects of our life which are quite emotional and touching for us but who has the time to think about the impact if we do so, we will be called backward or narrow-minded in our so called modern society and a self – dependent person doesn’t like to be called that.
