Part 10- July 31,2009-
Sir, the 2nd witness is in the other office, waiting for you." Dave told Gen. Jee and he excused again to meet the other witness. After another 15 minutes, Gen. Jee came back and told us what the other witness have seen on that scary night.
" The new witness saw everything that happened . He was closing the window in his room when he saw the shadow was harassing the woman. He was forcing the lady to wear the raincoat because 'twas raining. But the woman slapped him, that made the shadow mad and hit her head hard with the steel point of the umbrella. 'Twas at that moment when our second witness called 711 for help and when he came back to the window he saw the shadow shot the woman, while another man was lying on the ground.Then he saw the shadow run in the dark while holding the gun upward on his right hand. After few minutes the police car arrived to the scene and saw our other witness and his girlfriend still lying on the ground. Our police officer saw the other gun... your gun( looking at me) and the umbrella beside the dead body of the woman. While the boyfriend regain his consciousness he told the police what had happened that co-relate with our 2nd witness's
statement." Gen. Jee narrated to us what the other witness told him.
"Well, ladies, I'm happy to tell you that you can leave any minute from now after we will clear the record and endorse the gun back to you. Let's just wait for our investigator for the submission
of all the reports, pictures and gun to the office. He is checking, if your gun has license and if its clear, he is also preparing an endorsement paper for you to sign, that you have receive the gun ." Gen. Jee informed us for the good news..
Well... it seems like it starts with a scary night and ends with a lovely day for us all." Cynthia said cheerfully.
" But Ms Shantua, please remember that... the shadow is still on the loose, he may not... or may return anytime... and we don't know when. " He reminded me.
" But hopefully he will not comeback again, so you will not be scared anymore. But anyway, anytime there are suspicious characters around, don't hesitate to call our office and let us know." and he handed me his calling card. While Dave came in again and handed some papers to to Gen. Jee. I heard him said that all papers are done and just needed his signature and mine.
" Ms. Shantua, please read the content of this paper and if you're done just sign below so we will return back your gun, then you can leave while we will be working out for more evidence on the killer. As you know the killer was not caught yet, but there's a mandate to search and destroy. Meaning... if he will be captured and surrendered peacefully, he will be dealt accordingly. But if he will retaliate and shoot more our men, there's a shoot to kill order anytime." He assured me and seemed so confident of being able to make the case solve soon.
I was still feeling weak, and worry lurked in my tired eyes, but I have overcome now the fear that I have, knowing that Im no longer one of the suspect. It makes me feel better to know I can leave any moment and can attend the 'Luncheon Meeting' with the models and my boss. I was in deep thoughts that moment when suddenly I saw my boss coming in the office of Gen. Jee.
" Oh Ms. Shantua,how are you? Are you okay? Im worried of you when I heard that in the news this morning and Cynthia called up too." My boss asked one questions after the other, being worried too.
" Im okay now boss. Just the normal SOP of interviewing people near the crime scene, especially it happened in front of my house(gate)." I answered, and introduced him to Gen. Jee.
After some minutes when everything was clear and done, I was allowed to leave. My boss told me and Cynthia to ride in his car so we will just proceed to our Luncheon meeting. And he said, that I'll take a vacation leave after the meeting, so I can relax for some days.
I shake hands with Gen. Jee and thank him for everything." Im sorry, if I have heightened my voice while ago in some of our talks. I'm sure you understand why Im perturbed." I showed my regrets for my actuation during the interview.
After exchanging more words, I excused myself for awhile to go to the ladies' room and fixed myself. When I get out, I met Dave in the hallway and he asked my addressed and cell number, in case he said, his boss will ask him to check us once in awhile if we are okay. Without much ado, I give him my calling card and we separated ways while I saw his face lightened up when I handed him my calling card.
