This I am writing after observing the life of today’s children ( upto the age of 18). When we are children, our school used end by 5.00 pm and we used to play atleast for a period of 2 hours and thereafter study for the remaining time. Playing outside gives good exercise for the body, enough oxygen and also social skills. Now…..? Is there enough time for the children to play? How many schools are having playground? Now, many schools are “offices for children”! Some schools take children to playground once a week ! Is it enough? In the name of getting a lot of knowledge, we cannot deprive the children of their fundamental right to play. (In ligher vein, I say the right of the children to play daily should be included in the fundamental rights in the Constitution!). May be one reason is the increased syllabus. This can be compensated by dividing the path of studies of children into arts and science not after 10th standard but after 7th standard. This will lessen the burden on the students. Academicians, please think!
