After seeing various elections, I feel like this. A candidate who got nearly 30-40% of the polled votes gets elected to the assembly/parliament. On an average, polled votes are nearly 60% of total voters. That means the 'elected candidate' was approved by only 20% of voters and 'rejected' by others for the reason that they voted other candidates or did not come forward to vote him despite the fact that the said candidate is standing in the elections. Even then he is representative of all the 100% for five years. A party which gets 37% of votes is the 'ruling party' and the one which got 36% is the 'opposition'. This is the paradox of our system. This can be rectified by the proportionate system of representation of political parties basing on the ratio of the votes each party has got. Secondly, there should be some system of calling back the representative if he/she goes berserk after he/she was elected. I am not saying that all these are as easy as said. But, we have to ponder over the issue and after some time we may be able to find solutions.
