Description
This institute is established in 1958 and is located in Powai, Mumbai. IIT institutes are also located in Chennai, Kharagpur, Delhi, Kanpur, Roorkee, Hyderabad, Gandhinagar, Varanasi, Guwahati, Ropar, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, and various other places all over India. It has a AAAA ranking and it is an autonomous institute. They are recognized all over the world as a leader in the field of engineering education and research. They have an excellent faculty, many of whom are known for their research contributions internationally, and have won many awards and recognitions, including the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar and Padma awards. IIT also has tie-ups with national and international universities to give their students exposure to what is going on in other countries and states and to enhance research and educational programs.
All the students are accommodated in 15 hostels that have in-house dining and the campus also provides excellent amenities, sports, and other recreational activities. The campus has a women's cell, hospital, guest house, a hospital, lecture hall complex and a travel desk. The departments that this college has are aerospace engineering, bioscience and bioengineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, earth sciences, electrical engineering, energy science and engineering, environmental science and engineering, humanities and social sciences, industrial design center, mathematics, mechanical engineering, metallurgical engineering, and material sciences and physics. The number of seats in chemical engineering at IIT is 124, in aerospace engineering is 62, in civil engineering is 117, in computer science is 110, and in electrical engineering is 60.
Techfest, an annual science and technology festival is held every December here and Mood Indigo, an annual cultural festival, which is held every year is the largest college cultural festival in Asia. Besides this, there are a lot of arts, dramatics, fine arts, music, and other events here.
They have amazing placements like Google, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Samsung, and other big companies, so it is a dream company for many students. You will have to crack the JEE mains and advanced exams to get into IIT. You need to get at least 250+ out of 360 in JEE mains and you need to have a rank range of 1-3k in JEE advanced to get a seat in IITB. Getting into IIT will open many doors of opportunities for you, so you should definitely work hard and try to get in. The fees at IIT are 1,17500/- per semester.
