Description
College of Engineering (COE), Pune was established in 1854. It is a government college that is autonomous. It is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. It has got an AAAA+ ranking in engineering. The campus size is 37 acres and is located at the confluence of the rivers Mula and Mutha.
The facilities that are available in the college includes a gym, an auditorium, a boy's hostel, a girl's hostel, a library, IT infrastructure and laboratories. They also have a hospital and sports complex. The campus is very well-maintained and the hostels are better than average. The faculty is skilled and helpful; however there are some faculties that lack miserably.
They have an annual technical festival called MindSpark, which unites various departments of engineering and features about 50 events across various disciplines of engineering. It also hosts Regatta, which showcases boats.
Some of the courses that they offer here are B.Tech in computer engineering, B.Tech in Mechanical engineering, B.Plan and B.Tech civil engineering. There are 120 seats in computer engineering and mechanical engineering and 60 seats in B.Plan and B.Tech Civil Engineering. The fees for these courses are 3.46 lakhs for 4 years, which is very reasonable; however getting into this college is quite tough. The JEE Mains cut-off varies every year but approximately you will need a score of 170 to qualify for civil engineering, 189 for computer engineering, 181 for IT engineering, 178 for electrical engineering, 180 for Electronics and telecommunications engineering, 172 for instrumentation engineering, 182 for mechanical engineering, 163 for production engineering. In 2017, the closing rank in the MH-CET exam for civil engineering was 1496, for computer engineering was 242, for electrical engineering was 1128, for electronics and telecommunication engineering is 850 and instrumentation and control engineering is 1557, for B.Tech in mechanical engineering it is 685 max.
The companies that visit the campus for placement include Bajaj auto, Tata Motors, Hero Corp, Ashok Leyland and the highest pay package that a student got in 2017 was by D. E. Shaw and the pay package was 29. 20 LPA.
