A great book. Mulk Raj Anands strength as a writer is brought out fully as he portrays the pathetic condition of Munoo. A must-read for aspiring writers and anyone who likes reading. Though the content is dark and depressing, it does provoke thought on the human condition. Reality, albeit a dated one, is presented in all its starkness. The characters too are well-rounded - no one is totally evil or totally good. All the shades of grey are well portrayed. Needs to be read at a leisurely pace - the subject matter and treatment demand such an approach.
Overall, a good and sometimes cathartic read.
