Im writing this post with great displeasure when it comes to Samsungs LED TV feature claims. I bought Samsung LED TV UA40B7000 on September 19th 2009 from Croma, Bangalore. Being a gadget freak, was impressed by its features and knowing Samsung from early 90s didnt worry too much although 1, 24, 990/- was a big deal.
Soon after I started using this TV, I noticed that Internet@TV functionality is not working and later learnt that it doesnt work here in India. Should have checked this before I bought this TV. Remember seeing some note like this in its manual but when I called customer support, they said it will be introduced soon.
I have to also mention here that customer support are trained to fool you if you ask any questions related to Internet@TV. One of them told me that my cable operator has to be contacted for this and the other told that this feature is not available in this TV. WTH! I know what Internet@TV is, I know how to connect the TV to the Internet, still they behave smart thinking customers are fools and can be taken for granted!
Six months after buying the LED TV, one of its LED went dead. After some ups & downs, Samsung got it fixed - they replaced the complete panel. That was enough for me to keep scared all the time. Imagine something like this happening after your warranty expires. They dont provide you an extended warranty/AMC. If you have bought it when you bought the TV, it continues. Else, you are in grave danger of losing your investment. What I would like to highlight here is that, one LED went dead and the whole panel got replaced. Where is the quality im expecting from Samsung?\Few days back before my warranty expired on September 19th, I had called them asking for Internet@TV function. They have no answers for the B series. They said its available in the current C series which are 3D TVs. What about earlier models for which we have PAID and which has Internet@TV feature, my dear Samsung? Ignore them? Less than a year, they have moved those TVs to their archived section. Will they ever release a firmware which enables Internet@TV? Nobody knows.
Finally the engineer over the phone call gave me two numbers of a gentleman who can explain me or resolve/clarify the problem. Those telephone numbers does not work. Period. My TV warranty has expired.
I hate to believe or promote brands which takes high value customers for granted. Everybody hates! Stop doing this Samsung. You might be a leader, but for how long if you continue to do this? Im not going to buy ANY Samsung stuff all throughout my life. I know that Galaxy S i9000 is a great phone, which I wanted to buy. But knowing Samsung, I have to ditch that even though there are no good Android phones with front facing camera.. Not only this, being a Senior Technology Analyst & Consultant, I have stopped recommending Samsung for any of my customers, clients & family.
Thumbs down!
