I have varied interests and motivations in life and like to keep learning new stuff now and then... That's one way to fuel my soul, i guess... My tastes in movies are very varied, since i like to put myself in different perspectives... but what moves me most is poetic storytelling, moved by subtle emotions and the background score... This is one reason i love movies that have a terrific background score- Not necessarily dramatic... I dream of writing my original screenplay one day, with the above musical effects at their peak... An optimist by choice, i also believe that Mr.'Meticulous planning' can be a strong competitor to Dr.Faith, for moving mountains... Quite paradoxical and mixture-of-opposites at first sight... but what i;m looking for is a deeper insight into everything in life... it's almost like 'superficiality is a bane'! Hence, i'm quite experimental and have few taboos... (After all, Professor Experience is quite reputed in the academic circle, right?) Apart from my interests mentioned, i used to and still do some of, things like analysing different types of personalities, collecting items (collectibles), Doing Wacky stuff!, etc... but nowadays the big question lingering in my mind with respect to all such activities & interests, is, 'WHY?'... My Quote: There's no better way to gain it all than to sublime(lose) the fear of losing it all! I generally do things best in bursts of inspiration, which is why i'd keep filling in more about myself in this space later... (if i haven't overloaded u with so much ishtuff about myself!. Narcisstic? Well, you could call me so only if i M2M all this to you! Chill...!) so keep coming! :-) ... life moves on... Playing Chess, guitar(since 2002) and (trying to?) compose/analyse music... Books: Have been a fan of many classic series' like the Hardy Boys and Hercule Poirot mysteries... But now mostly interested in metaphysical and mystic stuff. Music: like all genres of music but the song has to have some spice in it, like some special creative effort... (eg. ACDC's 'Razor's Edge', Metallica's 'Nothing else matters' and 'One', Natalie Imbroglio's 'Torn' and many Eminem numbers). I can tune in to an ACDC and GNR kind as well as the Natalie Imbruglia & Mariah Carey types... Travelling is a great passion...love outdoor locations in the wild... Then again, there's a phase in life for everything, so i'm always open to new passions!

korn2k5 - There's no comparison with Sivaji, here... If Sivaji had loopholes, it was dressed up by magical music and bgm, Rajini's charisma, and Shankar's usual direction style. It started and ended as a masala movie. The tone of the movie was consistent throughout. Dasa had a classier plot read more...

storyline good analysis, and i agree definitely about the chaos theory and the way the events are connected... BUT, having a great concept and executing a great concept are two different things entirely. BABA by Rajini(screenplay by Rajini) is one of the best treatises on Indian Philosophy read more...
FAQs on Dasavatharam
Korn2k5: True, there were more than a few elements subtlely left to the viewers, like the God element and how all the elements are linked together. But this kind of subtlety belongs in a serious movie and not a comedy/action fare! The mixup of tone for the sake of reaching out to the audience read more...
the thing with Sivaji was that, inspite of a mundane storyline, there were several catchy elements at regular intervals to keep the audience attention... Dasa: songs poor. Background music - average to the core. 100 crore budget? And then, the characterization of none of the Kamals is powerful. read more...

r u serious in this review or satirical? I just finished the preview of this movie today... the screenplay is just one long chase, basically. i think the south indian dubbings negate the effects of the movie totally. like watching it on a 10 inch screen with laptop sound system... on the whole, i agree it wasnt upto the mark, but the Hindi version was more enjoyable and true to its cause!

yeah, it seems as if the director was pandering to the tastes of the majority! like i had said, to taste universal success, he cant be too radical as he used to be!
The art direction is fantastic and the look & feel of Bombay during those days really comes alive through the grand sets!
