It is mandatory to stay seated until the aircraft has come to a complete stop, what the air hostess did was right, your boss should have known better, when you pay for the flight you pay to reach from A to B and don't know the airlines

To be fair to the airline, it was a non-refundable ticket and you had agreed to the terms and conditions. You were not complaining when you got a low priced ticket

I agree with Prax1894, as long as you have made the payment and have a valid ticket and Photo Id they should not create a fuss.
