Updated 19th Jan'12....I have just renewed my connection for another 6 months. No problems so far and I get 12 HD channels. I am now inclined towards recommending Airtel. Sales support is bad though, but you won't need it after initial set up is done.
@rajware, I respect your sentiments and I don't deny that you must be facing frustrating times trying to get your problems sorted out. Hope your problem is rectified soon. As mentioned its almost always 1Mbps in the area I live in, bote, speeds are likely to be different in each area depending on number of users in the vicinity.

Dont buy reliance, I would recomment Airtel. Although customer service is bad but content wise its good.

Dont regret on taking tata sky since I have Airtel DTH and they are equally bad so today a customer does not have alternative choices .
