Having traveled abroad several times and having used the front loader, I was all in for it. I   have been looking for the TROMM Range for a while now and in particular was looking for the WD-14124RD machine as I didnt have to buy a washing machine + dryer due to the fact that these days getting space to dry cloths is difficult.

I have picked most of my electronics from Kundan Electronics @ Wheelers Road. The manager always help you pick the best thing for the price you have in mind. I had to settle for the WD-85290NP due to the cost consideration. The machine is a wonder. quite, calm and really efficient. I had to wait for the LG technician to come and install the machine.

After having bought the machine I realised that both the inlet and outlet hose pipes were small (as I didnt wish to place the machine in the bathroom). Thankfully the LG technician called before coming and I took the opportunity to explain the issues at hand. He was kind enough to get a lengthy inlet hose and help me start using the machine. He couldnt get the outlet hose as he wanted to measure the length. He had it delivered the next day.

Hot water tumble washing is surely a great way of washing cloths and the machine remembering its status is surely very economical and environment friendly as it saves water, electricity, time, detergent and a whole lot of anxiety.

I have been using semi automatic washing machine for last 7-8 yrs and was really fed up with the constant attention it needs. So when I decided to buy a new washing machine I was clear that it should be fully automatic front loading.

Why front loading? I need not explain it here since there is already another article on pros and cons of front vs. top loading.

My wife was in the favor of top loading because one can add more clothes in the middle of the life cycle, which is not possible in front loading (and top loading is cheap also). I was in the favor of front loading because it cleans best and also takes care of clothes. Finally I was able to convince her to take the front loading.

We brought 5 KG one from Griyas for 16,200. It was delivered next day. LG service guy was quick to call for installation next day. Although he kept us waiting for 2 hours but once he reached home he was good in explaining functions of which machine in details. He spent more than one hour with us explaining wash programs, do and don’t.

We have been using it for a month now and it really cleans the clothes. My wife is so impressed with it that she is suggesting everyone to buy fully automatic.

It does takes around 1&1/2 hours for each cycle but is really easy to operate, doesn’t make any noise during wash, makes a little noise while spinning but it is hardly audible once the bathroom door is closed.

Only area where I see it should be improved is drying quality. My previous semi automatic used to really dry the clothes in dryer but this one keep clothes little wet, especially heavy clothes like jeans.

I bought this WD-85260NP for Rs19500/-,First of all if you want a washing machine with similar features from IF B, you have to pay atleast Rs27000/-.The great advantage of front loader is that the wash quality is better than top loadingIt uses very less amount of detergent,if we use large quantity of soap wash quality may decrease, like that dont use the low quality ones,in the low priced pwders, the problem is that the foam formation is large this can decrease the wash quality bcos the clothes can slip out of the projections in the rotating drum before reahing a height,as u all know the wash quality is increased by the rotor dropping the clothes from a height, another problem with the low quality powders is that the in order to remove the soapy feel from the clothes we may hav to use intensive rinse functions ,as these machines normally use very less water, normally 4-5 cups of water depending on the weight of clothes Go for a front loader if1.You need good quality wash.2.Your region has water scarcity3.You need heated washing.(cold regions)4.Low washing powder consumptionThe next great thing about this machine is the low noise,it is even quiet than our top loading, machine even in the spin mode, and this is a great plus.Another important thing I have to point to you is that even if WD85290NP may sound higher in model no,and the price ,WD 85260NP is more advanced in technology than the 90NP bcos this machine was introduced in market after that, the only difference is that 90np has a jog dial,But it doesnt have a display as in the case of 60NPWD 85260NP has many advanced features like Quick 30-washes clothes in 30 minutes(normal cycle of cotton at 95deg takes around 2hours),these features are only often seen in high end machines especially from IF B and all.The maximum spin speed is 800 rpmTEmperature canbe set from 0-95c.The door is borosilicate (in IF B is made of fiber so it can cause scratch from button, etc and often the fiber doors are the culprit in leakage problems in many IFB machines)The door can open 180 degrres again (IF B only 90 degrees in machines less than 25000/-)AND above all the machine has FUZZY LOGIC controls, the machine automatically adjusts everything like quantity of water etc according to the weight of the clothesThe machine needs very less amount of detergent and water as in the case of any other front loaderand the wash quality is excellent. There is no vibration at all.And there is no water leakage problems.DELAY START option is also provided again which is only seen in high end machines.WE can even see the temperature of the water used by pressing the temp button in the wash mode.if you want to buy a machine first of go to the websites of all manufacturers like LG,SAMSUNG,IFBthe detailed description can be found there.Since the price of front loaders are high most of the normal shops dont stock them and they dont have any idea of their products, its better to go and buy from a company dealer showroom as they know what they are selling.    DescriptionDetail Features *Basic Program Program . As is my nature, I did some info gathering before buying this front loader from LG.

Since I own an LG fridge and TV for the past one year, I kind of had a good feel for their quality and customer service. Which are the points in favor of LG I started with. I did some debate over top-loaders and front-loaders, and settled in favor of the latter, mainly for the wash-quality. Also, if you notice top loaders are being phased-out, much as the days of semi-automatic are nearly over.

Hence, with an eye in the future (u need to think of continued spare part availability for the next 5-6 year or so), I went in for the front loader.

Now, comes where to buy it from.

I went down to the Pai next to my place. Good customer service, took time to explain all the features, did a compare and contrast between brands. And, not a surprise when he tried to push the IFB.

Ok, so I went back and did some more reading on the net. Ofcourse read the reviews here. Saw many people unhappy with the after sales service of Whirlpool.

Next, I went to CMH road Pai (cos one of my friends was buying something there). And was pleasantly surprised to see a LG brand shop right across the street. After gathering the price from Pai, intial quote 21.5K which he came down to 19.9K, I went to the LG shop, and he promptly gave it to me for 19K flat.

The delivery was next day, Sat, as promised. The demo guy stopped by in the evening, gave me a detailed demo, took time to answer my questions (and believe me, I have many). And the thing that impressed me the most was, he did not try to sell me the extended service plan, or some such money grab scheme.

I have been using this m/c for the last 3 weeks.

1. Wash quality is good

2. Dont really know its water or elec usage

3. Clothes have not been mishandled so far

4. Does vibrate a lot during rinse, especially with strong loads such as bedsheets.

5. The memory function works like promised (with elec cuts every day, I think this is a good feature)

6. No leaks so far

So, I hope this info is good enough for you. Hopefully if you have been sitting on the fence, this might sway you towards LG. Also, strongly feel you shud buy it from the brand shop, saves you the haggle.

Dont know long term performance, but going by the brand, shud be good.

Hi,

We purchased the washing machine after much debate on whether to continue employing a maid or buy a WM, and decided the later.

Reason : Avoid dependency on ever changing maids.

Cost 21,000 Rs.

Delivery : Behind schedule by 2 days.

Installation: It needs a special 1 (or 1.5) inch Tap and a 15 AMP power point, If you dont have these, they would cost you extra and needs to be fitted for the unit to be operational. (2 days delay - No 15 amp power point).

Accesories : Cover (Not required). This was torn during delivery. replaced by dealer and this cost me one more trip to the dealers (Vivek’s in bangalore) place and some shouting to him about quality and how I wanted to by Home theater and that I have dropped the idea.

Service : The service guy comes and fits the machine and since we did not have a 15 Amp point he says he would come back if there was a problem, tells me fix the plug and the machine should start running. explains to me the basic options on the panel that I need and goes away.

fortunately for me, the machine works fine.

I have watched it work couple of times just to make sure every thing is okay.

So far so good.

NOTE: If your clothes shed color, you need to be very carefull.

I am not using any special detergent - currently using RIN advanced and works fine

BOTTOM LINE: Responsibility of washing (and maintaining the WM) clothes has moved from the maid to me.

I dont know whether to laugh or cry.....

The author has never used a washing machine in his life....and this is the first machine he has purchased.

my dealer was kind enough to suggest this machine out of 25 models to choose from and hepled me clear my confusion. that was on 21/10/04.

i received my washing machine todayi.e 23/10/04 . it was wobbling when the man deovered the machine. he siad that the lg technician will make adjustments when he comes to the adjustable knobs on the bottom of the machine.in my eagerness I tipped the fellows rs 200. mistake. after they left I inspected the machine and was aghast to find that the machine was smashed and dented reducing the height of the right rear lower corner by two inches and hence the wobble.

i was taken aback. I quickly called the dealer ’VIJAY SALES’ Prabhadevi branch, mumbai and was informed by them that they will replace the machine tomorrow. incidentaly, they charge Rs 1200/= more than my neighborhood washing machine dealer. ’unche dukan, phike pakwaan’.

lets see what happens next.

chapter 2.

24/10/04

the dealer collected the WM lying with me and replaced it with a new piece. I trusted that Vijay Sales would have checked the new machine and hence waived the offer to check the machine. after the delivery boy left I went to take a look at my new machine; the front loding machine door is not closing properly, the entire machine is covered with black oil stains, as if some one had neatly spread it all over. well I called the dealer vijay sales and they said that the company will send its man to do a routine check up and see whats wrong with my machine.

did I pay the company or vijay sales to buy this machine. any ways I have no energy left to fight with these thick skinned salesmen.

chapter 3.

25/10/04

lg’s service engineer came and made all the adjustments to the machine. I pointed the problem of the door. he said that theres nothing wrong with it. I didnot force the issue. he quickly demonstrated the finer points of the machine. really its very simple to use.

I then proceeded to wash two soiled cotton blankets.(toatal weight 2 kgs) the machine washed them clean. I chose the pre wash and spin+ choice available. I collected all the drained water in a drum to see how much water the machine used. well in all the machine used 60 litres of water and three spoonfuls of surf excel. the time taken is 3hours and 45 minutes. the blankets were 75 to 85% dry.

well its my mistake. next time I will ensure that I use the machine when I want to wash a full load of 5 kgs.

the machine is noise free, barring few times when it rattles a lot and then goes quiet. it is certainly convenient. and I am sure my maid will be very happy.

i now await my electricity bill.

**Very Bad experience with LG washing machine** Today ( March 2, 2013) I have lodge complaint for washing machine with LG customer care ( RNA no 130301046036) for the washing machine (Front loading ) which I have purchased under one year warranty on 8th Jan 2013. Though engineer has visited on time but wants to replace one of the part for which he wants to charge Rs 1000/- .

When I told him my product is under warranty then he replied  the water you are using is kauvery water which is hard water and you need to put RO filter before the supply of water so that Machine won’t get hard water . Moreover he told me that if I will buy 2 years additional warranty ( @ Rs 3900/- for two years ) from him he will replace the product free of cost and do some manipulation.
