Sub: Defective Unit - Holes found in the Unit by Mr. Francis, Chennai.

Ref: Fax dated 17/07/2000 Sent to Noida, Delhi, Chennai.

Ref: Model No. : AS18A1QE - Regd.

Please refer our fax(s) sent to Noida, Delhi & Chennai on 17/07/2000. Mr. Harish from Chennai Office had sent Mr. Francis to check up the unit. He had uninstalled the entire unit and did complete work on it. He had found three small holes inside the indoor unit, which confirms that I have been supplied with a defective unit. He had applied Fevi - Quick (paste) to fill in the same. Surprisingly, when he switched on the unit after installing, the water continued to leak.

When Mr. Siva Kumar, Area Service Manager - Chennai, spoke to me over phone, he had said that he will make arrangements to replace the water tray unit alone for the water leakage found after installing the unit. The following is the copy of the original letter written by Mr. Francis with regard to the work carried out at my house:

Carried out work in 1.5 Ton’s H.W Split A/c, model (AS18A1QE) checked and found water collecting tray leaking. Tray to be replaced and unit over hauled.

Not withstanding any more, I request you, either to replace the entire unit or refund my cash (I will not entertain any parts replacement) within 3 days of the receipt of this letter / fax, failing which I would be forced to seek legal redressal.

After threatening to initiate legal action, the indoor unit was replaced by a new unit (Model No. AST18A2QE) which again turned out to be defective and since then (almost 9 years), I have been facing water leakage problem.
