After again registering the 9 years old problem with this new agent, the problem was registered with BP No. 8407531996. I kept talking with Samsung Toll Free Customer Executive during the month of June 2008 for what actions Samsung are trying to take but with no positive response as they are least interested in attending to customer’s query or problems they are facing with Samsung products. Kindly note, if you ask the Customer Care Executives for contact details of Samsung India Electronics Ltd., they would refuse saying that they do not know the Corporate / Registered Office address or contact / fax numbers. Isn’t surprising? More surprising is that even Salem Authorised Samsung Service Centre M/s. Smart Technologies don’t know or possess any such details. What more, I had even tried to contact Samsung through their website by submitting online query but till date, I haven’t received their reply.


After meeting Mr. Selva Kumar (MD, M/s. Smart Technologies) he had given the following option:


(a) Firstly, indoor unit shall be serviced for possible solutions.


(b) Water tray to be replaced, if available.


(c) Indoor Unit to be replaced, if available.


(d) New A/c unit for sale @ 35-40% discount from DP (Dealer Price)


New water tray (for different model) was tried but the tray was not matching with the model I possess. And hence the indoor unit was taken back on 03/07/2008 for necessary service work. After five days, on 08/07/2008 the unit was returned back without any positive reply. On the same day, I had visited Mr.Selva Kumar at his office for discussion. He had said that since the unit was 9 years old, this unit could not be repaired. Surprisingly, he went back on his own words for the above option (d) which he had given. Now he says that only Samsung Seconds Unit would be sold @ 35-40% discount. So this shows that Samsung’s quality standard is poor and sells defective products @ 35-40% discount. I have been taken for a good ride.


Dear Friends, you can never imagine or feel the problems and mental agony I have been suffering for the past 9 years with this defective unit. The defective air conditioner unit has caused damage to the wall and due to water leakage problem it had damaged my desktop computer which is kept just below the unit. If I had switched on the unit, I couldn’t sleep peacefully for the fear of water leakage and damaging the computer again. I had to use more than 1 bucket to store the water and keep watching for any other water leakage area.


Never trust Samsung and its defective quality product as well as its inferior and sub-standard services. If at all you plan to buy Samsung products, kindly note for the following:


1) Never make full payment until the product is thoroughly checked, atleast for 10-15 days.


2) Never accept anything in written with regard to receipt of the goods in good condition as you may never know where the defect is hidden.


3) It is no use asking for warranty / guarantee period but instead ask for expiry date of the product and its availability period for spare parts of the product purchased.


4) If the product is taken for servicing by the service center, check the condition of the unit when returned back to you. Check for body damage and fitting condition. As the air-conditioner unit is mostly made up of plastic parts, these are easily damaged and knob / locks are broken during servicing.


5) Ask for detail service work undertaken along with parts detail replaced or repaired, in writing, as they may be helpful while claiming compensation.


6) Don’t trust the company representatives or company’s authorised service agents as the company changes them frequently. If they give any assurance and afterwards you come to know that they have left the company, it would to difficult to approach the company for any solutions your problem.
