It is eight years since I wrote that complaint. There were some goof ups on our side at the time. They had actually returned the unsigned cheque (that is why they 'invalidated' it) and my father who at the time was 81 yrs (he is nearing his 90th birthday) forgot he received it. On 15 Oct 2013, I paid cash down for a Sony KDL 32W600A Smart TV from Viveks Adyar, Chennai. Believe it or not it stopped working entirely on 28th Oct 2013. Called Sony support. of the comments. First broadband connections are becoming as ubiquitous as dialup was years ago, thanks to BSNL. Costwise too. In some ways getting a broadband connection may be cheaper for long time use than dialup. So to still be using dial-up and basing your choice of distro's on it doesn't jell. read more...
If what you say is right why is MS going to such lengths to ensure that they don't even allow people to consider GNU/Linux as an alternative. I put it in deliberately under Tata Group Industries because I was gypped out of 500 usage hrs from my TATA VSNL dialup account a while back. If there are two bad apples in a basket then the whole basket is usually rotten
