HDFC is inept. But the thing is they only require an ITR of 6L for a Signature card whereas other banks require 18-30L. And HDFC barely charges anything while most signature cards cost 5-10k plus per year from other banks.

IMO there is likely to be more to the story. Perhaps the amount they confiscated is less than the amount you anyway owe them.

I know. But banks always mislead. It is just a lesson learned the hard way. All banks are like that. If you don't fall into this trap then just pay upfront without taking loans/credit,

I am sorry but credit cards are not for uneducated people. A lifetime free credit card only means that you have to meet a certain threshold of payment after which the subsequent year becomes free. If you don't meet the minimum criteria then it is no longer free. And you still need to clear read more...
