I don't know guys/gals - there has got to be something radically wrong somewhere. here is why I say this -
I have increased speeds from 60 - 70,
I have increased RPM from 4000 - 5000,
I have begun to use some pick up,
I have been now carrying a pillion (additional load?)
Yet, when I got the petrol filled today at 770kms, that is 385kms again (770 - 385 = 385 :-), ii had to fill only 7,28ltrs. That guys/gals, is 52.8kms/ltr. Even MORE than last time.
Yes the engine is sounding less strained perhaps as a result of the running in by now.
Yes I am getting used to changing gears at the right time and speed,
but all the other things I have been doing should have brought the average down, but hey! I am not complaining :-)
A few notes for Yamaha to think about....
The front fork seems to be a little loose - imagine on a new bike?
Although the purr out of the silencer is great to hear, I feel perhaps the engine itself is making too high a sound - maybe better after 1st two services???
The side stand ONLY is a mistake - because they have not provided for a side stand lock of some kind. If the bike rolls a little forward, it FALLS. So if someone walking by grazes past the bike, and it rolls, this bike that can not be fitted with a leg guard, falls and gets scratched/dented/broken. Not great planning for the customer.
I mentioned in an earlier review that the pillion has a hard time with the short distance to the pedal, and therefore the crouched stance. This is perhaps because the pedal is too high. Even seasoned riders have a hard time getting on to the pillion seat. Women have a really really hard time climbing on to the bike as a pillion. In fact one of them made the bike fall to the left in the process - something that has never happened in my life.
The nooks and crannies that come up due to open spaces left on the console or otherwise, makes it extremely difficult to clean well.
I personally would like a chain guard, but then that's me - perhaps an option to do so by Yamaha?
Grab handle is sorely missed. Yamaha has provided a strip of leather that goes across the pillion seat that they expect to be used as a grab handle - it serves as a poor excuse for one :-(
Otherwise, am still absolutely enjoying the experience of riding this beauty. Engineering and looks - really great! Everyone doing double takes at seeing this new bike and eating their hearts out at the looks :-) Shall soon need to get the first service done. Anyone have any ideas as to which Yamaha service center is bike and customer friendly? Am thinking of going to Adarsh in Okhla - where I bought the bike. What says guys?
