IMHO Smoking shud not be banned from movies...art is a reflection of the society...ban it from the society and it goes away from filmdom as well...btw, this argument abt celeb smoking influencing young mind is suspect...most smokers start smoking due to peer pressure in college in school...atleast i read more...

but I cannot agree with your comments on bollywood, this yr has been quite a revelation for bollywood, new themes, new stories. I watched this movie on Saturdya. Must say it was a visual treat. Very well made movie with the blue tinge and the hand held camera. Got an eurpoean movie feel to it. The direction is excellent. 'cos you have no talent...if you were expecting Sanjay Dutt to flip a cigerette and light by a colt revolver Parineeta was not for you....sorry dude...what you call slow and boring is subtle and romantic to others....anyway, I think it was beyond you

Very nice review...saw the movie today...u r right about the calcutta part as well, they can just shoot the river , victoria memorial today and claim it to be 1962....the music is sublime and the songs are shot very well.....

I bought a pirated copy of a roadside shop in Jadavpur. The print was decent and the movie was an absolute delight. In contrast the sequel made by Goutam ghosh was not that captivating. Incidentally, Abhik let us know if you find Pratidwandi. Meanwhile if you are based in Mumbai please let me read more...

Great review Mayank. Keep it up. I and almost all bengalis of my generation grew up as ardent fans of Feluda. Mind you, the books were specifically meant for teenagers; adults may find it a bit childish. However I read one the other day and it still was as interesting as ever before.
