Air India would love to offer more flights from Chicago - London - Mumbai but the US Government has placed a restriction on AI operating only 3 weekly flights on that route to protect their own carriers. Blame Uncle Sam for that one not Maharaja.

If AI had 20000 staff per aircraft, that would mean that there were almost 5 lakh employees? Your figures are totally inaccurate. The industry average of employee per aircraft is in the range of 120. Air India is around 850, primarily because they operate larger aircraft on long-haul sectors.
