Satish Kaushik one of the best comic actors and he directed films like TERE NAAM which was a hit and VAADA a flop but a well made film.He turns into comedy and directs a comedy but the film teeters betn a drama and a comedy and thatz where it fails.

the first half has entertaining scenes like Akshaye coming to know his disease and Malika’s scenesbut it lacks the meat .

T               he film is a comedy so no brains which worked in NO ENTRY and other films but this film gets bizzare and the second half is a big downer.

the SUneil Shetty portions and gulshan grover portions to the climax it is all superficial and fail to make the audience laugh.

Kaushik’s direction is limited by a script even otherwise this isn’t on par with what we expected from him, screenplay by sanjay chhel is listless but his dialogues are well penned and a saving grace to an extent.

Music is okay, ANKHIYON SE GAL KAR DI and BIJURIYA stand out

Akshaye Khanna is the saving grace to a large extent, his change of expressions prove again that he is amongst the best, this is his 2nd comic role after HULCHUL which was a better film but his acting is much better and he seems at ease throughout.

Ayesha gets to play a conventional role which is very boring and her work is just ok

Malika has to just act as a seductress which she does well, she doesn’t have much scope to show acting potential which one saw only in MURDER.

AFtab is wasted, he plays second fiddle throughout but his long hair suits him.

Suneil Shetty is a highlight, he suits his role to the T but he has less screentime.

Rajpal Yadav is getting typecast but does well.

ANupam Kher doesn’t impress.

Boman Irani is as usual.     **Plus Points: **a few comic scenes, performances by akshaye, rajpal and suneil

music   **Minus Points: **second half, too bizzare script,

Guy likes girl, guy is terminally ill, guy wants to save girl from getting hurt so guy makes girl hate him so she can forget him and he can die in peace.Sound familiar???? No s#$%. This line can be used to describe a large number of movie in the past the most recent being Bluffmaster. Only in this case we know from the beginning that he is not actually dying.Well with reference to the above its safe to say that one cannot have any expectations from this movie. All one can expect it a run of the mill slapstick comedy with over the top humour and funny one liners and hugely over-exaggerated characters. Not that thats bad we Indian feast on such comedies. We love to leave all our sensibilities at home and forget all the plot inconsistencies and idiosyncrasies of the film and just have laugh. But this movie is just tooooooooooo bad. Bad enough that they have to rely on jokes we cracked as kids and received as sms’s on the phone. PATHETIC!! The acting is not really bad its of the same quality you would expect in any such slapstick comedy only problem is that the jokes are really so pathetic and the timing so bad that its difficult to laugh. Special mention for Rajpal Yadav who gets credit for being as if not more annoying then Johny Lever in less that 10 films hot on his trail is Boman Irani who of he continues these roles will no doubt catch up with him.Anupam Kher must have been really broke to have accepted the role in this film. They only saving grace of this film is Mallika Sherawat who plays the sexy sultry seductress to the hilt and carry the entire film on her shoulders with some help from Akshaye Khanna who deserved much better than this. The only few genuinely funny scenes in this movie all involve Mallika or akshaye with one particular scene being the one at the funeral. Also I don’t know Ayesha takia was hardly given any comic sequences when will Indian filmmakers realise that women (besides the seductress) can be funny tooo. The songs save for one are all forgettable and I doubt the one that is OK will leave its mark too.All in all a totally avoidable movie the only funny scenes are almost all in the teasers. Definitely not worth watching in the theaters, but if its coming on TV and you nothing better to do don’t change the channel you may end up seeing a few funny scenes.

Yeh review padhlo!

Shaadi Se Pehle

Director : Satish Kaushik

Plot: Hypochondriac Ashish (Akshaye Khanna) has worked hard the past five years of his life so that he can become worthy of his love Rani (Ayesha Takia) and gain the approval of her father. When all seems like it is going to end happily Ashish discovers he is dying of cancer. In order to minimize the pain Rani will feel when he dies, he decides he is openly going to cheat on her and hopes that eventually she will leave him. What follows is a hilarious journey where he has brushes with super model Sania (Mallika Sherawat) and Uncerworld don Anna (Suneil Shetty) all while thinking he could die the next day. Will Ashish succeed in his plans? To find out watch Shaad Se Pehle!!

What Works: The movie has some really funny scenes that is bound to have most audiences in splits. I particularly liked the scenes with Anna and though they were refreshing. Akshaye Khanna has given a sincere performance and effortlessly slips in to the character of Ashish the hypochondriac. Boman Irani is hilarious as the doctor. Mallika and Suniel do not fail at entertaining. Another plus for the movie is the song Bijuria, since the whole song wasn’t featured on the DVD, I caught it on the special features!

What Doesn’t Work: The length of the movie is a BIG drawback. Some scenes were absolutely unneccessary and should have been edited. Also, to label Akshaye Khanna’s character as a hypochondriac really wasn’t enough for most of the audience that probably wouldn’t even know what the word means. The only performance that dissapointed me was Ayesha Takia’s. All she was asked to do was to look pretty and she (or rather her stylist) couldn’t even pull that off. She looked like Akshaye could be her dad, and the ugly nose ring only made it worse. It seemed to me that a sixteen year oldwas trying to look like a 23-25 year old and was failing miserably.

Overall I would say Shaadi Se Pehle is a perfect movie for one of those days when you have nothing to do. You can just kick back enjoy a good laugh and then go on with your life. It clearly doesn’t leave you with much to think about but at the same time leaves you very satisfied.

I know this is a bit late to write a review on this, especially since I saw this movie a whole 3 weeks ago, but what the hell, I am writing one anyway.

Right. So I saw this movie with a friend, in the theatre, and I made some observations.

This movie is crap. I did not have high expectations of it in any case, having seen the trailers and dismissed them from my mind as soon as I saw Ayesha takia in them; but I did have a fond hope that maybe, just maybe, the presence of Akshaye Khanna would save the flick. But no – the movie sunk without creating even a bubble. The music is bekaar, to make it worse. Sometimes, when I hate a movie, it can still redeem itself by providing good music but this one lost even that chance.

The main outline of the story – Akshaye Khanna sees Ayesha takia in a theatre ,flips for her [ Why, God, why??? ] and gives her an amazingly slap-your-forehead-and-groan type corny line – “Kya aap ke papa aatankvadi the? Because you’re a bomb.” . Uh-oh. Bad joke.

Even more unbelievable. The lady grins at him like he’s Einstein for having come up with such a brilliant observation. Hero decides he wants to marry her. Heroine’s dad says “ I’ll consent when u’ve got 50 lakhs.” Hero works, works, works for 5 yrs, becoming hugely successful – but this is more important – he also becomes a hypochondriac. He approaches Takia’s dad with the money, dad is delighted, Takia is delighted, hero is delighted, and hero and heroine promptly do the requisite three and a half minute jig to a sachharine love song with an eminently forgettable tune. So hero and heroine are engaged now, and everything’s okay until hero overhears a conversation which his doctor is having over the phone, and misunderstands that he has cancer. Boman Irani plays the doctor. Again. This time he’s Parsi, and he says ‘dikra’ a lot. Du-h. Obviously. In Bollywood, if you play a Parsi doctor, you MUST say ‘dikra’! How else will us mentally challenged cinema goers understand you’re Parsi? Of course, this is just in case we miss the ridiculous skull cap and the English – gujarati slang………..

I mean, the guy is immensely talented, so please stop stereotyping him!

Phew. Glad I got THAT off my chest. Proceeding……..so hero ‘discovers’ he has cancer. So now he promptly sets about trying to offload his girl with the same energy and speed he spent getting her. Hero’s best friend played averagely by Aftab Shivdasani is in love with Ayesha also [ curiouser and curiouser……] Rajpal Yadav plays hero’s friend and colleague, mostly drunk, spouting poetry and dumb jokes – “Agar sab Rupa ka underwear pehnenge toh Rupa kya pehnegi??”

Okay, that was funny! But dumb.

Hero pretends to be a philanderer to madden his girl, and in the process meets Mallika Sherawat. Here I’d like to say something about this lady. I went to the movie with a very bad impression of her, but I was pleasantly surprised. This is my impression, whether or not you ppl agree. She did not do much skin-show in this movie. Her character is actually quite a big role, and though she does not do it justice, I discovered that she has excellent comic timing. She outshines Ayesha Takia by a LARGE margin. Leaves her in the dust. Malika has lots of attitude, a good body, an unusual face and lots of chutzpah. Sounds like a good combination. Only future movies will tell whether I’m right. She also gets to say some wacky lines. Get this - “When I’m good, I’m good. When I’m bad, I’m better!” Truthful, eh?

Anyway, though she does not initially believe in love [ “Only lust, baby……..only lust” ], she falls in love with Akshaye, who is heartily sick of the whole affair, and takes him to her residence in Malaysia. Here he tries to get rid of her, only to be told in no uncertain terms what will happen to him if he dumps her, by Suniel Shetty, Malaysia’s biggest don, who – yes, yes – also happens to be Mallika Sherawat’s obsessively overprotective older brother. Suniel Shetty absolutely steals the show. He also gets to say the dumbest, therefore funniest lines:

“<Bang Bang> Apun anna – chaubees ghante chaukanna.”

After being told by Boman Irani that his eyes are strained:

“Apun ab only atharah ghante chaukanna – chhe ghante soyega.”

Oh, yeah. Gulshan Grover does a dumb cameo as a rival don. They even have a - <yawn> - shootout, when Grover tries to kidnap hero.

Meanwhile, Mallika almost gets hitched to hero.

Meanwhile Takia almost gets hitched to Aftab.

Meanwhile there are lots of painfully unfunny jokes.

Meanwhile hero finds out – finally – that he’s not suffering from cancer; he gatecrashes Takia’s imminent wedding.

Lots of other forgettable and insignificant incidents and sub – incidents before – surpise, surprise! - Takia and Khanna are united – by Aftab and Mallika! That’s right. Turned out ayesha hired them both to get Aftab back, after suspecting that he was not really a philanderer, only masquerading.

Lame.

The End

The Upshot: I am sorely disappointed by Subhash Ghai. He should issue a public apology for inflicting 3 insipid hours of an overweight Takia and a [ Why?!!] loser character like Akshaye on the paying public. The ending sounds dangerously like it’s lifted from Bluffmaster. Also, Rajpal Yadav is wasted. Period.

All right, I admit it. I found lots of the dumb jokes funny. But you have to allow for the fact that we were 2 giggly 16 yr old girls watching this movie – we’d laugh at anything!

AND WHO THE HELL DESIGNED AKSHAYE’S RIDICULOUS WIG??????

Ashish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) are a couple madly in love. However, Ashish seems to get stressed at the slightest bit of tension in his life and needs to pop a pill to soothe his nerves and Rani’s parents do not approve of him.

Now comes the best friend – Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani), who also has a crush on Rani. When Ashish goes to visit his doctor (Boman Irani) he misunderstands the diagnosis of hypertension with cancer and his world turns upside down.

Since Ashish loves Rani and wants the best for her, he embarks on a plan to push her towards Rohit.

This is the entry point for none other than the sexy siren Mallika Sherawat. Ashish starts flirting with a model, Sania (Mallika) and Rani is heartbroken. Then comes the realization that Ashish does not have cancer so now the big question is who will Rani end up with?

The story is a mix of several potboilers. Since the plot has been witnessed earlier, little care has been taken to make the screenplay gripping or exciting. The film lacks the by-now-famous gags associated with Satsh Kausik films and the comedy scenes, barring a few, are not worth a mention.

The screenplay does little to help elevate the proceedings. With a solid cast , the writers should’ve come up with gripping incidents to woo the masses. But both the first half and the second half are too routine in content and offer nothing original.

Another drawback of the film is the climax, which stands on a weak drama. The ease with which Aftab-Mallika hand over Ayesha to Akshay comes as a jolt to the viewer since he expects some fireworks. Even the songs and their placement are far from impressive. Barring ’tere liye’, the remaining songs don’t contribute to the plot at all. In fact, atleast two songs -- ’mare dank’ and ’gal kar’ -- have been placed without any relevance to the goings-on. Even action scenes look forced and weren’t required at all.

Akshay is mediocre. Ayesha has no scope at all.Rajpal is irritating. Mallika is as usual. Boman makes his presence felt.Anupam is okay.

Dialogues are passable. Ditto for the cinematography.

Shaadi Se Pehle disappoints and disappoints big time!

Shaadi Se Pehle suffers because Satish Kausik seems completely ill at ease handling a comic caper. The story he has opted for had scope for a lot of drama, but the writing is so routine that the viewer can actually guess what the next sequence would be like. Even the dialogues are outright predictable.

The director’s intentions get further diluted because the screenplay writing has loopholes aplenty. Even otherwise, the writers have relied too heavily on cliches to convey what they intend conveying. Besides, the film moves at a snail’s pace, gathers momentum, slows down again and picks up yet again towards the pre-climax. Now, this is all the more disturbing for the viewer who in any case has been subjected to an oft-repeated storyline.

The music is no great shakes either.Cinematography is alright.

Of the performances, Akshay Khanna does make an effort to enact his part with conviction. Mallika does not impress, partly due to a half-baked characterisation. Ayesha is just about okay.

A bit on the story

Ashish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna) is an absolute simpleton in love with a rich girl Rani (Ayesha Takia). Going by the set norms, the couple dream to tie the knot and live in the fairytale world where everything is ‘happily ever after’.

But like every love story, this one also has a share of setbacks.

Though termed as a creative genius by his advertising agency, Ashish is a raving hypochondriac. His paranoid behaviour leaves him with frayed nerves at the slightest tension. And there is just one remedy – to pop a pill.

The story begins to roll when Ashish mistakenly starts believing that he has cancer after overhearing his doctor’s conversation on the phone.

Coming face to face with reality, Ashish decides to brake up his engagement with Rani to give her a better life though he still loves her immensely.

And thus he begins to do things very un-Ashish like – from getting drunk to wearing the most flashing clothes and from the shy-guy he becomes the Casanova!

But Rani and her family fail all his attempts to break up the engagement till they find him involvement with a sexy, international model Sania (Mallika Sherawat). And thus begin the problems… for Rani, for the storyline and for we the audience!

Ashish’s gameplan works and Rani begins to hate him. She agrees to marriage Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani), Ashish’s friend, who always harboured a crush for Rani.

Ashish, though hurt, heaves the sigh of relief till he gets a shock of his life by realizing that Sania, whom he was using for going away from Rani, is deeply in love with him. And to add to his woes, she is also the sister of an international don Anna (Sunil Shetty) who puts all his guns on him to marry his sister with no return.

And as the movie unfolds with its mix-ups and twists, Ashish learns that he doesn’t suffer from cancer.

He has no escape... no support... no hope... he wants to return to Rani, who is now getting set to marry Rohit. He has no one to blame but himself.

How can he undo a situation that he himself has created?

So where does Ashish go Shaadi Se Pehle? Well, you need not work too hard to guess that one!

All up Shaadi Se Pehle is a complete letdown.

Comedy is serious business. The moviegoer has to laugh at the right places and situations and Satish Kausik has mastered the art .But he seems to have gone haywire this time around!

Ashish Kapoor (Akshaye Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) is a couple who are pretty much in love with each other. Ashish has a problem. He tries to stop even the slightest level of tension, by popping a pill to control his shaken nerves.

This comes to the notice of Rani’s family members who in turn try to separate them. And if that was not enough for Ashish, there is his friend Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) who also loves Rani. Despite all these, Rani genuinely loves Ashish and sticks to him.

However, when Ashish goes to visit his doctor, he misunderstands the doctor’s diagnosis of hypertension to cancer. Ashish’s world is turned upside down. And now before dying he decides to do the right thing. He wants the best for his love Rani, so he embarks on a plan to make Rani hate him, so that she will not have to suffer the ordeal of his death.

He now starts flirting with another lady Sania (Mallika Sherawat) who is sister to don (Suniel Shetty). Seeing Sania in Ashish’s arms, Rani gets dejected and dumps him.

Down hearted Rani asks her family to choose her a suitable groom. Her family chooses Rohit. And as fate would have it Ashish realizes that he does not suffer from cancer at all. So now he has to break up Rani and Rohit’s wedding.

Will Ashish succeed?

Will Ashish be able to convince Rani of his true feelings and clear up the mess?

Will Ashish be able to convince Rani’s elder goon brother Anna (Suniel Shetty) who wants to get him killed?

Will he be able to get the sexy Sania out of his life?

The basic plot of the film is interesting and the makers have tried to make the proceedings look different from the run-of-the-mill types. The narration is quite exciting in the first few reels, mainly the scenes between Akshay Khanna and Rajpal. Scenes like these are ample proof that director Satish Kausik knows his job well. His flair for light moments come to the fore in this film . Although the first half of this enterprise abound in illogical moments, they are yet captivating and the viewer looks forward to an equally gripping, exciting and entertaining second half.

But the drama goes haywire in the post-interval portions. To start with, the story deviates from the main plot and concentrates on various sub-plots like underworld don track in Malesiya. Nothing wrong with that, but the these trackss are cumbersome and look forced in the screenplay. The villains’ characterisations too leave a lot to be desired.

The script is the sole drawback of Shaadi Se Pehle. The writer’s inability to come up with a tight script is visible in the second half. It seems he wanted to pack all commercial ingredients, from comedy to emotions to romance to drama, in those fifty minutes. He should’ve concentrated on the main plot, rather than confusing the viewer with a hotchpotch screenplay.

Anu Malik’s music does not elevate the proceedings one bit. Nor does it help in salvaging the show. Barring the tere liye track , the remaining songs are plain mediocre. In fact, the placement of songs is equally disturbing. How one misses a synergy between the songs and the goings-on in the second half. Cinematography is inconsistent. At times good, most of the times average. Dialogues are witty and natural.

Akshay seems comfortable in light moments and depicts a flair for comedy, but is repetitive in the second half. Ayesha is dependable. She looks lovely and does her part with sincerity. Rajpal is enjoyable in the early portions, but is relegated to the background in the second half. Mallika and Aftab are okay. Sunil is not comfortable enough.

To sum up,Shaadi Se Pehle lacks a cohesive script and the outcome is far from satisfactory. Below average.

It becomes evident right away that the director and the writers of Shaadi Se Pehle had no idea what film they really wanted to make. First you’re led to believe this is a slapstick comedy, then comes the whole torture. The film doesn’t take itself too seriously and neither should you.

Akshaye Khanna plays a young man who mistakenly believes that he’s dying of cancer. He knows this news will leave his fiancee Ayesha Takia quite shattered so he decides not to reveal the truth to her. He figures that the only way she’ll come away unhurt is if she dumps him herself. But why would she dump him? Well, if he pretended to be an alcoholic and a womaniser, she certainly would. So that’s exactly what he does. Akshaye pretends he’s suddenly developed the hots for sizzling model Mallika Sherawat, and exactly as per plan, his fiancee sees red.

Now the only problem is that Mallika really falls for him, and it’s not so easy getting out of that situation, because her brother Sunil Shetty happens to be an underworld don. Of course, eventually, Akshaye finds out he doesn’t have cancer and he’s not about to die

This film plays on all of the stereotypes, and every single character in the film is as good as a cardboard caricature with lines so predictable that you could have scripted them yourself without any difficulty at all. To say that Shaadi Se Pehle is amateurishly scripted, is being very kind to Satish Kausiik who’s even written the film himself.

When you’re watching a seemingly coherent film, you do expect attention to detail and continuity, you also expect the use of logic and reason. But really, when you’re discussing a film like Shaadi Se Pehle, how can you even expect that anyone involved might have actually used their brain? A mish-mash of many genres it may be, but problem is Shaadi is still extremely predictable. Also the comedy in this film is so juvenile and so amateurish that even class four students would find it too childish. The slapstick humour between Rajpal and Akshay really begin to get on your nerves after a while, making you want to throw something at the screen to end the misery.

To make matters worse, Shaadi Se Pehle stars one of the most annoying actors in those roles that are meant to evoke mirth.

Akshay Khanna who hams and overacts like there’s no tomorrow, or for Mallika who is so loud and so animated that your temperature rises every time she walks into the frame. It’s only poor Boman who brings some level of sincerity to his role. But even he can’t do very much to salvage this dud.Ayesha is so thandi and boring this time around .Rajpal ,Sunil ,Aftab do not merit a mention.

At best Shaadi Se Pehle is exactly the kind of film we ought to have outgrown. But if you end up laughing at a few jokes here and there , please remember that you desperately need to get a life.

PS: This is more about my experience watching the movie than the Movie itself

I use movies as stressbusters from the moribund office routine and daily work tensions...That is why I prefer light slapstick comedies..(No Entry , Masti...et all) which help me relax and lighten up....This weekend..i decided in favour of Shaadi Se Pehle...Me and a friend of mine...sat in plush multiplex seats..switching off our minds, ready for a movie devoid of logic...and ready to enjoy...Little did we know what was to follow...The movie started in an unusual way with Akshay Khanna telling us his part of the story....We sat up with full attention for moments of laughter...me repeatedly trying to switch off all circuitry filling my mind with vacum..waiting..waiting..It just didn’t click..After the first 1 hour I knew that I had myself in a sticky situation..Having spent 150 Rs of hard earned money..and waiting all week for letting the stress built up...i knew I had had it this time....Gradually came the interval...and the renewed hope that something better awaits in the next half...OH MY..the perennial positive thinker in me did not know what was to follow....

Malaysia and India ..Are these two linked by road by any means...I mean in Govinda Movies show an aeroplane (AIR INDIA --OLD TIMERS would know) touching down to show a change of country ..Here we had hippedy hop Kaula Lumpur ..wssh Mumbai..Then there is Anupam Kher in what I think is one of the worst roles of his life....’’What the Hell ?’’ This is what he keeps on saying...It actually made me angry... What the Hell....The Climax which you can guess after the first 1 Hour..(Credit--They didn’t have a Mystry twist added to prolong misery) duly follows....and we get up contemplating on what we had just gone through...One Plus Point---My work seems much better now..Its relaxing..!

Generally, most light entertainers don’t come with a heavy baggage. Since there’s not much logic involved, all that the director and his team of writers have to do is go for a script that has scope for comedy and importantly, pick and choose actors who are gifted enough to carry the roles with élan.

While Mukta Arts Ltd.’s Shaadi Se Pehle, directed by Satish Kaushik, gets it right in its choice of actors [Akshaye, Mallika mainly], it falters in the most vital department: Script. Armed with an interesting plot, you expect the film to be a laughathon, from start to finish, but the film amuses in parts.

Inspired by director Rajat Rakshit’s Amol Palekar-Ranjeeta-Ashok Saraf starrer MERI BIWI KI SHAADI [1979], SHAADI SE PEHLE takes the same route as NO ENTRY, GARAM MASALA and MALAMAAL WEEKLY. Meaning, don’t look for logic when you watch the film. But the makers have to ensure that the content has the meat to keep you glued for the next two hours.

Unfortunately, SHAADI SE PEHLE lacks the power and punch to keep you hooked. It’s way below expectations!

Ashish [Akshaye Khanna] and Rani [Ayesha Takia] are pretty much in love with each other. But Ashish has a problem: At the slightest level of tension, Ashish needs to pop a pill to unrattle his shaken nerves. Rani’s family [Vijayendra Ghatge, Kishori Shahane Vij] are strictly against the relationship. And if that is not enough for Ashish, his childhood friend, Rohit [Aftab Shivdasani], has the hots for Rani.

When Ashish goes to visit his doctor [Boman Irani], he misunderstands the doctor’s diagnosis of hypertension to cancer. Ashish’s world turns upside down. Before dying, he decides to do the right thing: He wants the best for his love Rani. Along with his friend [Rajpal Yadav], Ashish embarks on a plan to make Rani hate him so that she will not have to suffer the ordeal of his death.

Ashish starts flirting with the sexy supermodel Sania [Mallika Sherawat]. Seeing Sania in Ashish’s arms, Rani is dejected and dumps him. But there’s a twist in the tale: Ashish realizes that he does not suffer from cancer at all. He decides to break up Rani and Rohit’s engagement. But there are problems...

Will Ashish be able to convince Rani of his true feelings and clear up the mess? Will Ashish be able to convince Sania’s elder goon-brother Anna [Suniel Shetty], who wants to get Sania and him married without further delay?

With an interesting concept on hand, SHAADI SE PEHLE could’ve, and should’ve, developed into an entertaining joyride, but what you get is not what you expect from a film that boasts of impressive names on and off screen.

The problem lies in the fact that SHAADI SE PEHLE tries too hard to make you laugh. At times, you do enjoy the humor, but at most times it falls flat. There are sequences that do bring the house down. For instance, the Akshaye-Rajpal Yadav sequence at the start of the film [when Akshaye confides that he’s going to die] is hilarious. Even the Akshaye-Boman Irani sequence at the latter’s clinic evokes mirth.

Mallika’s track is another ace. The bindaas attitude her character exudes as also the glamour quotient that comes with Mallika is eye candy for the junta.

Unfortunately, SHAADI SE PEHLE goes downhill in the second hour. The comic scenes in the post-interval portions appear superficial and that’s a major slip-up. Also, there are unwanted tracks in the plot, like the Gulshan Grover sub-plot, which only acts as an impediment. Ditto for Suniel Shetty’s portions, which was the need of the story for sure, but how one wishes the writer would’ve garnished those portions imaginatively.

Even the climax, which should’ve been the mainstay of the enterprise, lacks conviction. Ideally, the concluding portions should leave an ever-lasting impression, but in this case, it comes across as a half-baked effort.

Director Satish Kaushik is not in form this time around. His choice of the subject is right, but the screenplay lets him down to a major extent. Sanjay Chhel’s writing evokes mixed feelings. While the screenplay interests in parts [not amongst Chhel’s better attempts], the dialogues penned by him are excellent. In fact, the witty one-liners are the highpoint of the enterprise.

Himesh Reshammiya’s music may not be of hit variety, but it serves the purpose nevertheless. Yet, given the kind of music Mukta Arts has come up with in the past, you miss a hit score in the film. ’Ankhiyon Se Gal Kar Gayee’, ’Bijuria’ and ’Tere Liye’ are foot-tapping nonetheless. Cinematography [Johny Lall] is enticing, especially the locales of Malaysia.

Akshaye scores yet again. The various expressions that flash on his face within a fraction of a second reiterate the fact that he’s amongst the best in the business. Extremely efficient at all times! Ayesha Takia gets to play the conventional heroine, but the role appears so boring in today’s times. Even otherwise, the actress enacts her part mechanically and needs to get her styling right. Mallika Sherawat is a star, not an actor, and the makers understand it well enough. There’s no effort to depict Mallika as an actress, but a seductress and that’s precisely why this character works.

Suniel Shetty doesn’t impress. Aftab Shivdasani plays second fiddle right through. However, the long hair suits him. Rajpal Yadav excels once again. Although he tends to go over the top at times, he does make you laugh whenever he appears on screen. Anupam Kher looks disinterested. Gulshan Grover is wasted. Ditto for Vijayendra and Kishori Shahane Vij.

On the whole, SHAADI SE PEHLE has its share of fun-filled moments, but the film doesn’t make much of an impact in totality, thanks to a weak second half. At the box-office, the 4-day weekend and the onset of summer vacations may help to an extent, but it lacks the power to sustain after the euphoria settles.

Being at Bhadrachalam, where no new Hindi cinema come to Cinemas, Whenever a visit to Hyderabad is possible, we like to watch a Hindi Cinema. So this cinema was in a THEATRE NEAR ME and was new and so I went to watch this one.

The story start is like a book, the narrator(hero- Akshaye) tells his story and why he fall in love and all that and then he gets sick and assumes he has cancer, by himself. and he enters a new girl’s life to make his fiancee leave him.

The actors are all normal nothing special, but the story treatment is bad, the first half, where the teen sensation - Ayesha Takia is shown is given very less, People would have liked to see more of the Bubbly Ayesha rather than the Seductress Mallika, The character is really boring one of Mallika Sherawat. DOnt know why Sunil shetty calls himself 24 ghante chowkanna and why all this is happening.

Luckily the film ends!

The story should have been third person to make it interesting, The performance of Ayesha Takia is good, but we do not understand why she suddenly starts wearing Sania Mirza glasses!

Overall the cinema is not understood, just like my review would not be to many people, See the cinema when it is telecast on the TV (of course when ur children are asleep)

The dialogues are good at times but they do not flow, like Akshay says ’’ Kya aap ke pita aatankwadi hai- you are a bomb’’

Definitely we were interested to see the end of the movie

It tells the story of Akshaye Khanna who plays a young man who mistakenly believes that he’s dying of cancer.

Of course, eventually, Akshaye finds out he doesn’t have cancer and he’s not about to die. But by now, his fiancee is in the arms of his childhood rival Aftab Shivdasani, and he’s got an underworld don gunning for him.

The film has an engaging first half.Although the pace drops at regular intervals, one actually doesn’t mind the first half since the humour succeeds in bringing a smile on your face.

But the graph of the film does an about-turn in the second half. The goings-on move at a sluggish pace and also get boring at this point Even the climax is such an anti-climax. A better end should’ve been thought of.

Director Satish has handled the light sequences with aplomb, but he is terribly handicapped by a weak screenplay.Music is pleasing to the ears.Tere Liye is seeped in melody, but is wrongly placed in the narrative and can easily be chopped off to make the pace faster.

Cinematography is striking. Dialogues are witty and the ones delivered by Rajpal and Sunil deserve special mention.

There’s consistency in Akshay performance .Ayesha is quite alright, playing the plain Jane part with ease.Mallika endears for the generous dosage of skin show.Rajpal Yadav is first-rate, enacting his part with conviction.Watch at your own peril.

The story is old wine in new bottle. It reminds you of the immensely successful comedies of yore, of the 1960s and 1970s to be precise. But to give it a contemporary feel, Satish and his writer have added enormous glamour quotient .Ashish (Akshaye) believes that he’s dying of cancer, so he has to take the bad boy route to break it off with his staid fiancée Rani (Ayesha). To scramble things up, pouty Sania (Mallika) sashays in and falls head-over-heels in lust with Ashish, drinking through a straw in the disco.

While he’s disentangling himself from her, her beefy anna (Sunil) who is a Bangkok don, muscles in. Now Ashish has to fob them off and get his Rani back from his rival Rohit (Aftab).

The first half of the film has several hilarious moments and Kaushik does leave an impression in a few sequences. The second half begins equally well and the narrative continues to hold your interest till Sunil enters the scene. Thereafter, the narrative gets tedious, slow-paced and lengthy before it reaches the finale, which fortunately is very well executed.Directorially, Kaushik has extracted fine performances from the main cast .His handling of the comic moments and dramatic sequences deserve kudos but the pace at which the story moves dilutes the impact to a major extent.

Music is just about okay. Barring the Mundeya track and ’Aakhiyon’, the remaining songs are mediocre. Dialogues are wonderful at places. Cinematography is fairly impressive. Editing is loose. The film is very lengthy towards the second half and if trimmed, would only help in enhancing the impact.

Akshay’s sincerity shows in his work. The actor is improving with every release. Mallika takes a step forward with this film. Her performance is better than his previous works.Ayesha Takia has been wasted. Suneel is so-so. Aftab and Rajpal lend adequate support.

On the whole ,Timepass stuff nothing more!!

Shaadi Se Pehle is a feel good entertainer but an ordinary screenplay, coupled with some illogical turn of events, take it downhill.

Akshaye Khanna works for an ad agency, and he and Ayesha Takia are in love and are engaged. Akshaye goes for a check-up to Boman Irani who plays a doctor. There is a misunderstanding and Akshaye gets the impression that he is suffering from cancer and has only a year to live.

In order to make it easier on Ayesha, Akshaye poses as a sly character to break off the engagement. Just when he is close to his mission, Akshaye meets Mallika Sherawat who plays an International model. Mallika is drawn towards Akshaye and falls in love with him, and Ayesha is compelled to break the engagement when she sees another woman in her his life.

Now Akshaye faces another problem. Mallika wants to marry him and there is nothing he can do to refute her advances, because her brother is a don (Suniel Shetty).

Loosely inspired by Meri Biwi Ki Shaadi, Shaadi Se Pehle has many aces up its sleeve. The narrative moves at a brisk pace, keeping you hooked.

What’s appreciable is that every single characters gel completely with the screenplay and don’t hinder the film’s progress.Special mention has to be made of the way Director Satish Kausik has introduced certain characters and subsequently weaved them in the story, without deviating from the main plot and yet all those characters are complete with no loose strings hanging.

But the graph of the film takes a dip towards the second half. It’s not as exciting as one would’ve expected it to be.

Music is tuneful. The songs are catchy and youthful. Cinematography is alright. Dialogues are quite good.

Akshay does his part well, expressing the right expressions at the right places. Mallika lights up the frame whenever she appears. Ayesha Takia is just about okay.

To put it Shaadi Se Pehle is a feel good, decent entertainer that holds ample appeal for the youth mainly.

The film tells the story of Ashish Khanna (Akshaye Khanna) and Rani (Ayesha Takia) who fall in love with each other. Ashish’s childhood friend, Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) also likes Rani but Ashish manages to woo and charm her.

After opposition from her family, the two get engaged to each other. He’s a hypochondriac and keeps popping pills to cure all his imaginary ailments. One day, he even overhears his doctor (Boman Irani) discussing one of his patient’s illnesses.

Ashish misunderstands it to be his case and is shattered to hear that he has cancer. He thinks it’s unfair on his part to marry Rani knowing fully well that he’s to die soonlong with his friend-cum-colleague (Rajpal Yadav), they work out a plan to make Rani detest him and call off the engagement.

Finally he begins to flirt with the sexy international model Sania (Mallika Sherawat).A heartbroken Rani dumps him.

Surprisingly Sania falls in love with Ashish for his innocence and introduces Ashish to her brother, Anna (Suniel Shetty), as her prospective husband.Ashish is worried, more so because Anna is an underworld Don. He has to carry on pretending to be Sania’s boyfriend if he doesn’t want to be shot by Anna...

To an extent, director Satish succeeds in his mission of making you laugh, even if logic takes a backseat and the wafer-thin storyline is stretched beyond a point in the second half .Despite a half-baked script, the film holds your attentiont in first half. But the film suffers in the post-interval portions, since it gives an impression that the writers were, perhaps, trying to package just about everything to woo the viewer. The outcome is tedious and not as exciting as the first half.

Directorially, Satish shows a flair for light entertainers, but he’s handicapped to an extent by the screenplay. Music is of a hit quality. The songs are tuneful and the best part is, they come at the right places, complimenting the goings-on.

Special mention must be made of the witty one-liners penned by Rumi. This is amongst his best works to date. Those delivered by Rajpal are sure to bring the house down. And now to the performances!

Shaadi Se Pehle undoubtedly belongs to Rajpal Yadav, who is unbeatable when it comes to comedy. He contributes enormously to some of the best moments of the film.

Akshay Khanna is proficient, enacting his role with ease. Sunil Shetty is not as convincing, mainly because the screenplay doesn’t offer him enough scope. Aftab Shivdasani is alright.

Leading ladies ayesha and Mallika– add glamour to the proceedings.

SSP has an excellent first half, but a just-about-okay second half. skip or watch it!

Shaadi se Pehle, is a well-made comedy that offers you value for money!

Thematically it is about a hypochondriac Ashish Khanna (Akshayee Khanna) who wants to call of engagement with his lady love Rani (Ayesha Takia) on a mistaken impression that he is suffering from cancer.

He decides to paint himself the villain by getting involved with a sexy siren Sania (Mailika). Sania as luck would have it is the sis of underworld don Anna (Sunil Shetty) who of course would kill any one who would dare to cheat little sexy sis.

There is also Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani) who loves Rani and is willing to take the short route to her heart or what ever.

Though the basic plot of this enterprise is thin, the director has laced the film with moments that tickle your funny bone. The film has a line up of character artistes essaying comedy roles and must say, the light moments are very funny – a factor that would appeal to the hoi polloi.

The only flaw is the film’s excessive length in the second half. The song picturised on Akshay and Mallika can easily be deleted for it serves no purpose in moving the story ahead. Also, the comedy scenes need to be trimmed slightly for better impact.

The performances in film are of a high order. Akshay essays his part with utmost conviction, giving cent percent to his role. Mallika is a pleasure to watch. She delivers the right expressions, her dialogue delivery is flawless and of course, she looks hot, a compliment she has learnt to live with.Ayesha does go overboard at times, but looks wow otherwise. Aftab is just about okay.

Camerawork is a feast to the eyes. Dialogues are excellent. Production values are rich; a lot of money has been spent and it shows on the screen.

On the whole,Shaadi Se Pehle has all it takes to emerge a rewarding experience for its producers, distributors and everyone associated with it.

Views on performance of cast

Surprisingly Mallika Sherawat has acted in this movie. Amazing. Something different from her routine style. Akshay Khanna as usual is struggling as he does in every movie since the beginning of his career. He works hard, there is no doubt about that but then he has his own limitations and is short of versatility and variations. He is young, but his face does not match with the roles he gets. Ayesha Takia looks good, she can smile, cry but acting???????????????, fine she could adjust because this was not a woman oriented movie. The main focus lies on Akshay Khanna who somehow managed the show. Boman Irani is a class in himself. He delivers his best everywhere and generates laughter. Suneil Shetty performed well and he does perform well in the movies where he is not in the lead role. Rajpal Yadav is getting stereotyped now. Every time same stuff and same style but still successful in delivering what he is supposed to. Anupam Kher gives you his best. He is a polished actor. He smudges well into the character that he has to live and leaves an impact everywhere, whether the role is little or more.

Well, now views about the movie

It is a full paisa vasool movie. You go light hearted, buy the ticket, take your seat, watch this movie, have some popcorns and cold drink during the interval during the movie also will do) have some laughter sprees and come out light hearted. No problems at all.

Satish Kaushik has his own style of delivering his messages in the form of comedy even if it is a serious topic.

Remake of Meri Biwi Ki Saadi, Shaadi Se Pehle is engaging, but in parts

Akshaye Khanna plays Aashish, a poor man in love with a rich girl Rani (Ayesha Takia). Aashish suffers from hypertension. Any situation of slightest tension leaves him with frayed nerves. Aashish’s love for Rani is not approved by her parents who think he is far beneath their daughter to match her as a husband.

The story begins to roll when Aashish mistakenly starts believing that he has cancer after overhearing his doctor’s conversation on the phone.

Suddenly the hypochondriac in Aashish comes to the fore. Resigning himself to his fate, Aashish decides he would not let Rani bereave over his death. He loves her too much to bring her any kind of pain.So he decides that he will make her hate him. And for this he begins to flirt with Sania (Mallika Sherawat).

Sania is an uninhibited girl who is all over Aashish at the slightest provocation. She is also the doted one of her elder brother Anna (Sunil Shetty), a belligerent goon who can’t bear to see any wish of his sister unfulfilled.

Aashish’s gameplan works and Rani begins to hate him. She agrees to marriage with Rohit (Aftab Shivdasani), Aashish’s friend who has always harbored a crush for Rani.Just in the nick of time before Rani’s engagement, Aashish comes to know that he doesn’t suffer from cancer. Now he has to undo what he has done.

Will he be able to get out of the mess he has created for himself? Will Sania, who has now grown strong affection for Aashish, let him go?

The first half has several enjoyable moments, specially the Rajpal track and his drunken act. Even the placement of songs is perfect here. But the pace gets uneven in the second half, which is the main drawback of this enterprise.

The trouble with the screenplay is that in the post-interval portions, the pace drops at regular intervals. It gets slow, picks up again, turns slow yet again, but gathers momentum all over again in the climax.

Director Satish Kausik has developed the drama well, but he should’ve avoided those double meaning dialouges. Himesh’s music is easy on the ears. The mundeyatrack and ’gal kar’ are well-worded and decent compositions. The picturisation of all the songs is first-rate.Cinematography is excellent.

Akshay is extremely competent. Aftab plays to the gallery and gives a good account of himself.Mallika is just about okay, mainly because her characterisation is subdued. Ayesha is fantastic as ever.

All up Shaadi se Pehle is a mediocre film .

Considering the movie title of ’shadi se pahle’, I would suggest, paleez dont watch this movie either shadi se pahle or shadi ke baad. 10 min past the beginning of the movie, you get to realise that even the darkness of the theatre holds more interesting things to watch, for a timepass, but this movie.

The story is beyond rotten......’’ a young guy(Akshay khanna) about to marry his beloved, discovers (falsely) that he suffers cancer...followed by the tantrums he uses to get rid of the pretty cutie pie of his, through pretending to be a bad-bad guy’’. As for the climax.... even a 2yr old, on- diaper kid would guess.......after much hue and cry he comes to know that he isnt going to die and gets eager to have back his lost love.....who is already fixed by his not so friendly friend.

To add to the ingredients of this tasteless ’curry’ there comes Mallika Sheravat ( a little clothed for a change) with her don brother Sunil Shetty( did you know he too was there in the movie?). She as well guessed, falls in love with Akshay and takes full credit of the power of his don brother, to keep Akki in her arms.

The last but not least blow to the movie comes from Gulshan Grover ( counterpart of Mr don). I am sure on seeing his role, you would feel better only after snatching out your last string of hair.

But still if you have no other way of committing suicide, but only watching this movie...... I would say.... you wont even get you soul resting in peace after that......

I   sometimes wonder on what basis films are produced and how it is assumed that the product they are producing would work as in most of the films the basic ingredient script is missing and shaadi se pehle is no exception.the film falls flat and becomes unable to bear as script is bad, dialogues are vulgar and film is not helped further by bad direction.the film music borders on mediocrity and slackens the pace of movie.this film is avoidable anytime

story

the film basically is a story of an hypochondriac man(akshaye khanna) who is good for nothing bt so that he can marry his girlfriend(ayesha takia) he starts doing various things and finally lands a top post at advertising agency but one day he discovers that he has cancer when he hears his doctor talking to someone and hence decides to forget his love so that she does   not have to lead a sorrowful life and hence fakes up an affair with saniya(mallika) but she really falls in love with him and turns out she is sister of underworld don anna(sunil shetty) who forces to marry him what follows next is predictable

performance

akshaye khanna is wasted as hypochondriac man

ayesha takia has little to do in small role

mallika sherawat does nothing except wearing reveling clothes and has to go a long way as far as performance goes

rajpal yadav rerpeats same acting seen in earlier movies

sunil shetty ,anupam kher and gulshan grover are irritating in their respective roles
