Good review. I generally use clear lip gloss instead, because in general lipstick looks terribly..I don't know..incongruous? out of place? on most Indian women. There are exceptions though, I guess.

I thought it was a great review, and I agree with you--Nutan definitely looked better without makeup. The only makeup I ever wear is eyeliner, so I don't know that much about it. LOL, I don't think smiling ALWAYS makes people look better. Some people look better when they're not smiling.

but I didn't really like the movie that much. I agree with what you said about stereotypes and all that. Pinky was an especially realistic and well-drawn character--I think we all know someone like her. LOL, maybe Kareena Kapoor shuld have played Pinky.

I don't think a friendship between a guy and a girl is really plausible in India. Most ABCD's are nagged by their parents and not allowed to have a really close relationship with guys(especially if they're not Indian) , so I don't see that happening in our country of origin. LOL I wonder how Bol read more...

You certainly had the time or inclination to make incorrect assumptions about the way 'the Wicked source-of- all-Evil West' treats old people (ever heard of 80-year-old Ronald Reagan? ever heard of the commandment in the Bible 'Honor thy mother and thy father'?). I know more than a few girls like Farrah who are westernized but pray too. All of them ARE Muslim though, so I guess the director was on to something. hated Purva Beid's role, and now that I think about it I hate the movie in spite of the fact that it was so funny. People can't think of a plot so they decide to milk the whole culturally-confused stereotype. This movie was grossly inaccurate.
Well, since you are critiquing Western culture I think one problem with Indian culture is that when someone becomes old they are immediately assumed to be weak, sick, and unable to do anything. Often, completely healthy older people are treated like handicapped mentally challenged people. Don't tre read more...
Madhuri and Hema Malini are THE most gorgeous Indian actresses ever. I think Madhubala, though she supposedly looks like Madhuri, was a little on the chubby side. And very ordinary looking compared to her contemporaries like Geeta Bali and Bina Rai.

I actually thought the movie was pretty funny. It wasn't the best ever but it wasn't that pathetic. Especially when compared to a comedy like American Pie. BTW in the movie Shaun was smart to begin with, he didn't suddenly get straight A's because of that book. Good review.

Thanks Koshish and esgadellion. Yeah, I haven't read any of the MS favorites that EVERYONE picks, like The Godfather or A Hundred Years.. I hate Ayn Rand, another MS favorite. I only read three of her books before I told myself, enough is enough.
